My love of animals and nature was instilled at an early age. Having a close relationship with animals has taught me patience, understanding and above all, the amazing bond shared between animal and human. Cats have a special place in my heart. Losing my cat of 13 years was very traumatic, hence the reason I began helping at a local shelter. I have now been volunteering for almost 5 years. My experience is shared between the clinic at the Humane Society in Spokane and previously at the Mat-Su Shelter in Alaska. My knowledge has expanded to dogs as well as cats. I am comfortable giving oral/topical medications to cats and kittens. This includes wound care. Cats or dogs who have emotional issues take longer to acquire a persons trust. Yet that trust, can only be met when there is enough time and patience given, to encourage human contact. I am willing to go the extra mile to attain that goal. To date, I have fostered numerous cats and kittens who need extra care, because of medical or social issues. Helping to accommodate animals in preparation for adoption is extremely rewarding. I would encourage anyone looking to make a difference in the lives of these animals, to become a Foster Parent.
