I've been a cat foster parent for a few years as well as a volunteer at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe. I love both cats and dogs and am familiar and comfortable working with anxious animals. I'm thoughtful about animal behavior (moreso with cats) and having patience and understanding to work with pets unsure of new humans. I've petsat for many friends' cats around the country for a few years.

I approach pet care with a lot of patience and boundaries. My priority is to first make sure that animals feel comfortable around me. Having spent a lot of time around cats, especially ones who've been abandoned and previously lived on the streets, I have a lot of patience for building trust over time. I give animals space to come to me, while also creating an environment where that is more possible, such as having spaces for the animal to hide or have for themselves, or just sitting on the ground nearby with little movement for periods of time.

Valerie has catsat for me on numerous occasions and has demonstrated a strong track record for being responsible, communicative, and trustworthy. I know I can always count on Valerie to make sure my cat, Greyson, is well taken care of. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a catsitter in the area.
Valerie has been pet sitting for my cat Scar for the last 6 years. Every time she has cared for Scar, she has given him so much love and care. She never just pops by but instead takes the time to keep him company, play with him with all his favorite toys and ensure all his needs are met. I’m never worried about Scar if I know Valerie is stopping by and she sends the best kitty content she to let me know he’s doing well while I’m away. Scar is always happiest when I return if Valerie was the one caring for him because he had so much affection and consistency while I’ve been gone. Valerie has a special touch with anxious or shy cats, giving them the space, comfort and routines they need to get to know and trust her. I’d can’t recommend Valerie enough as a cat sitter! Anyone would be lucky for her to care for their animals because she’ll love them like her own.
Valerie has taken care of my kitty, Goyle, for many years. From just drop in visits to staying over at my place, she’s been fantastic with her! She follows all care instructions, is incredibly communicative, and kept my home neat and clean. Val is respectful to both humans and pets, and clearly loves animals. And my cat loves her too ☺️

Schedule
I work hybrid and have the option to work from home whenever I need. I can also be available before work (9am) or in the evening. I enjoy taking long walks in the evening. I prefer setting my schedule within a few days to a week, whether that's workouts, dinner plans, or pet sitting to structure and ensure my availability. For my own foster pets, I work around the schedule they may need to ensure a secure and happy home. For example, my current foster cat has anxiety around food so I've given her a food schedule of 4x a day so she can feel secure.
