I am an experienced pet caregiver based near the Smith Mountain Lake area. I have hands-on experience caring for a variety of dogs, including large breeds, and am comfortable administering oral medications, providing bathing and basic grooming care, and handling dogs with different temperaments and needs. My experience comes from both personal and professional care. I have cared for my own dogs, as well as my parents’ and sister’s dogs, giving me regular, real-world experience with daily routines, exercise, feeding schedules, and overall pet wellbeing. Professionally, I have worked at a dog kennel where I was responsible for feeding, bathing, and supervising dogs in group play settings while ensuring safety and appropriate behavior. I also worked as a bather at a pet store, where I gained experience handling dogs during grooming-related services and maintaining their comfort throughout the process. I take pride in providing reliable, attentive care and treating every pet as if they were my own.

This was Valerie’s third time dog-sitting for me, and just like the first two, she was absolutely fantastic. She’s incredibly reliable, caring, and my dog lights up every time she walks through the door. It’s obvious she truly loves what she does. She kept me updated with photos, followed all instructions perfectly, and left everything spotless. I always feel completely at ease knowing my dog is with her — she treats him like her own. If you need someone trustworthy, consistent, and amazing with pets, Valerie is hands-down the best. I’m grateful to have her and will definitely keep booking her.
Valerie did an awesome job taking care of our 3 year old, blind, Jack Russell while we were out of town. She sent excellent updates with pictures and a video. We will definitely have her sit again, and highly recommend her. We even extended our stay an extra night!
Valerie was great as always! My shepherds always seem well cared for when we return home. Although they tend to be a bit mischievous, Valerie is always quick to report any potential issues to us and keeps us updated while we are away. We really appreciate her!
