I didn't grow up with pets but I always wanted a dog. Four years ago, I became Auntie Uma, the official pet sitter for my friends' dogs in New York. For four years I took care of a free spirited corgi, a beautiful golden retriever puppy and a very shy but extremely cuddly Korean Jindo. Coco (corgi) is the type who cannot be tamed, which meant being hyper vigilant on walks, making sure she didn't eat anything she wasn't supposed to. I practically raised Sassa (golden retriever) along with her mother (my friend). My friend got her when she was a puppy and I helped her take care of Sassa because she unfortunately she had a lot of health issues and it was a lot of responsibility given that Sassa was just a puppy. I gave her medicines, took her to the ER when my friend was away, managed to bring her back home after she threw typical golden retriever tantrums during walks 😂. Bean (Korean Jindo) was a rescue adopted from South Korea. He is extremely shy but absolutely obedient and basically follows you around everywhere like a lost puppy. Plus he is EXTREMELY CUDDLY. I joined Rover because I wanted to get used to being around pets and taking care of them as I plan to adopt a dog in the next three years.

I really try to ensure that your pet's routine stays the same as much as possible that is why I prefer housesitting and offer only that instead of boarding. In order to make your pet feel comfortable around me, I need to know as much about their habits, likes and dislikes. For long-term sits, I prefer to be in active contact with you so that I can inform you about your pet's behaviour adjusting to me and ask questions in case I need help :)

Uma took care of our large dog while we were away. She is very responsible, the stay was really uncomplicated. She bonded so well with our dog and was very loving with her. We came home to a happy dog and a tidy flat. Thank you ☺️
Uma provided the best care my partner and I could have hoped for, for our pup. We had a friendly first meet up and then when she stayed over she made sure to send updates regularly and some lovely photos as well. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for caring and considerate sitter.
Uma ist ganz wunderbar. Meine Tierschutzhündin ist wirklich schwierig. Sehr reaktiv, mag keine fremden Menschen, wenn sie sich bedrängt fühlt schnappt sie auch schon mal, kann nicht gut alleine bleiben und ist sehr aktiv. Uma hat angeboten sich erst einmal kennenzulernen und dann zu entscheiden. Das Kennenlernen war ok und dann kam es gestern zum ersten Sitting. Und es lief hervorragend für beide😁 Ich kann Uma zu 100% empfehlen. Tolle Frau mit sehr viel Gespür für Tiere. Uma is truly wonderful. My rescue dog is really challenging—very reactive, doesn’t like strangers, may snap if she feels pressured, struggles to stay alone, and is very energetic. Uma suggested we first get to know each other and then decide. The introduction went well, and yesterday was the first sitting—and it went excellently for both of them 😁 I can recommend Uma 100%. She’s a fantastic woman with a great instinct for animals.
Uma is great with our yorkie, who is not easy because he is reactive! She is kind and easy to work with, we have worked with her twice now and will do so again. Very highly recommended!
Uma was fantastic, our pets loved her and we came home to a clean and well cared for home. We will 100% be using her again. Thank you Uma!

Schedule
I am currently actively job hunting, which means my schedule is quite flexible. But overall, even with a job, my routine would include 2-3 days of office days and the remaining work from home. But I always make sure to accomodate my in-office days around scheduled petsits.

- It is important for me to know if your pet has any health conditions and is on any medication and also if they have attachment issues/anxiety/reactivity. Of course if there are any special things for me to keep in mind, I would love to know them.
