I’ll spend a few minutes giving belly rubs or brushing to start their day calmly. Midday: This is usually playtime! Depending on the dog’s personality and energy level, we might: Go for another walk around the neighborhood Play fetch or tug-of-war Practice basic commands (sit, stay, paw) for mental stimulation Enjoy puzzle toys or treat games Relax with some cuddle time for lower-energy pups Afternoon/Evening: Another potty break and walk, dinner, and wind-down time. I make sure they feel safe and comfortable—whether that’s lounging on the couch, listening to calming music, or sticking to their normal bedtime routine. Fun activities I love to include: Nature walks or park visits (if approved). Backyard agility-style games using simple obstacles. Snuffle mats or scent games. Photo updates for pet parents. Lots of positive reinforcement and affection. Every day is tailored to the pet’s age, energy level, and personality—whether that’s an active puppy who loves to run or a senior dog who prefers slow strolls and naps. The goal is always to keep them happy, safe, and loved while their family is away.
