Pet care experience

I love animals

For the past 5 years, I have worked as a dedicated dog walker, gaining extensive experience in caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. During this time, I’ve built strong skills in handling multiple pets at once, maintaining consistent routines, and ensuring each dog gets the proper exercise, attention, and care they need. In addition to walking, I have also worked as a trusted housesitter, where I was responsible for not only the well-being of pets but also the overall care of the home. This included feeding, administering basic medications, cleaning, and providing companionship to pets while keeping the household safe and maintained. My experience has taught me to be reliable, attentive, and compassionate, while always prioritizing the comfort and security of both the pets and the home I’m entrusted with.

House Sitting • Jan 03, 2026

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with this experience, especially given that this was a week-long trip. When we returned home, the bed was left unmade and dishes were left in the sink. While we were in the process of packing for a move, the bed had been made and washed before we left, and the living room and bathroom areas were clear. We also had concerns about our pets’ feeding. We left eight cans of wet cat food for the week and returned to find all eight cans still there. The dry cat food bag was also nearly full, making it unclear how our cat was fed during the stay. This was not an emergency, as our cat will eat dog food if needed, but it was still concerning. In addition, the dog food bowl was completely empty when we arrived home. We did arrive later than expected, but with senior dogs that typically graze, there is usually some food left in the bowl. While we cannot confirm that the pets were not fed, this raised concern—especially since we had to ask from the airport whether the pets had been fed before the sitter left. Communication throughout the week was very limited. We did not request daily photos and made it clear we did not want to be overbearing, but we did expect basic check-ins during a week-long stay. Communication only occurred when we reached out first. We were also not informed when the sitter left or where our keys were left until we asked. Additionally, a BritBox subscription was added to our Amazon account that is only connected to the main TV in our home. The sitter denied signing up for it, but this TV is the only device linked to that account. It was not our intention to leave a negative review. The sitter shared that she has only been doing this for about four months, and we initially tried to address these concerns directly with her rather than impacting her rating. However, our concerns were rudely dismissed and we were told we were mistaken, our apartment was dirty to begin with and that we were the ones with poor communication… which left us feeling that this was not simply a one-off issue. Lastly, although we mentioned we would provide an additional tip due to the holidays and the sitter’s low rate, a tip was requested before the service was completed and again afterward, despite the concerns above. Overall, this was not the kind of experience you want while on vacation. The lack of communication and clarity around basic care caused unnecessary stress, and we would not book again.

Tyaisha took good care of our dog and cat while we were away for the weekend. She handled a difficult situation well. Our dog is a beagle who likes to eat anything she can find. While walking with Tyaisha, she ate a small piece of chocolate. Tyaisha pulled it out of her mouth, took her home, and called our vet for advice. The advice was to watch her, and she was fine. She let us know right away. We would use Tyaisha again.

She had an emergency and called an hour before booking and said she couldn’t walk our dog for the day. I understood, Emergencies happen, but the next day 30 minutes before our booking she canceled again, saying that she thought she told me she had to cancel for two days not one. Emergencies happen, all I needed was Communication and she did not do that. She also tried to reschedule the time of a walk shortly before the booking that she had already agreed to. I Would not recommend if you need someone reliable and that communicates with you.
