About Rika

Updated Nov 2015: 70 lbs. Rika is good with dog/dog greetings and dog /human greetings when we are off/on leash. She has no leash aggression what so ever. She knows sit and down and "STOP!" --the first two she likes to pretend she doesn't know--but she does! She is decent on leash, and mostly only pulls when she sees the car or the house! I don't have to use a prong collar on her as she is very responsive and just wants some love! Rika is a rescue out of Texas, she is submissive, wary of strangers but warms up quick. She does live with 4 cats, 3 of which are afraid of all dogs so that is not her fault, she tries to solicit play from them but they just hiss at her. The other sits atop her kennel and plays with her ears. They have become friends of the playing variety. They don't snuggle, they just bug each other and seem to enjoy it. She has met small dogs on our walks and she does walk away from them if they bark. She is anxious of loud noises. (update: she had no trouble during fireworks, but still doesn't like loud vehicles-but neither do I) She is learning the fine art of fetch, but loves to run more that actually bring something back to you. She is learning about toys. She has a kibble ball and a treat Kong that she has mastered. I believe she was trained with a squeak toy because when I squeak it she a)jumps in the car b)goes to her crate c)goes to her dog bed d)takes it from me so I can't squeak it anymore and puts in her crate or bed. She has been learning "walk the log" and has learned to swim. She also has a regular playmate but is really still learning to play with others. She is very responsive--if I say No, she gets it. I have loved learning who she is. She has been with me since January 2015.
