Pet care experience

Friendly dog lover in Cardiff Bay

I love dogs and have always had them growing up. I grew up with a Golden Retriever that we adopted in 2011 (the goodest boy in the world) and since we lost him, I’ve been excited to help others look after their pets until I get to a point where I can adopt my own again. I have experience in dog sitting both via Rover and for friends and family, am very confident with all breeds and care about making sure they have a great time whilst I’m looking after them for the day, or longer. I have a clean, quiet ground-floor flat that opens to a garden. I work from home, which means I'm around all day and your best friend won't be left alone. I work from home full time with a flexible schedule, meaning I can ensure your pet gets a full walk and plenty of bathroom breaks, play time and attention during the day. I am generally available 7 days a week. When house sitting, I can work from your home provided there is wifi and offer the same care and attention. Having spent almost my entire life with and around dogs, I understand the care and attention they need to ensure they're happy, having fun, and not stressed whilst they're staying away from home or away from their family. At my place, dogs will have access to a small garden (though supervised / on a lead, as it is not fully fenced), and my flat is right next to the taff trail for plenty of walking opportunities. I have a small selection of toys as well as food/water bowls, but ask that you provide your own food.

House Sitting • Mar 22, 2024

It’s no small thing to leave two of the most important things in your life with someone you met online, but that’s exactly what we did when we asked Tristan to house and dog sit for us whilst we were away, and we couldn’t be more pleased with how everything went! Our dog, Sam, can be a bit of a handful at times, he is small but mighty! We’d never used a dog/house sitter before so weren’t sure what to expect, we searched the site and read reviews and when I contacted Tristan he put me at ease straight away and suggested a meet and greet so that we could have a chat and he could meet Sam. Tristan talked us through everything, told us about himself and asked lots of questions about Sam and how we care for him which was great to see that he was so thorough. After the meet and greet I was really confident that Tristan and Sam would be a good fit. Tristan sent us updates and pictures about Sam whilst we were away which was lovely and really helped us enjoy our family holiday knowing that Sam was being so well looked after. When we got home, I was super impressed with everything - Sam was happy and had obviously had some really good walks and lots of cuddles! The house was exactly as we left it, we honestly couldn’t tell that anyone had been there. We can’t recommend Tristan enough, and we’ve already booked him to take care of Sam the next time we’re away too!

Doggy Day Care • Jul 20, 2022

Our Labrador retriever is a ‘Covid pup’ and we have been cautious about his separation anxiety. He is a very affectionate and friendly dog, yet excitable and powerful. Tristan provided us with a warm welcome on an introductory meeting with a walk to a local park. He had an aura of confidence and warmth which made us confident to leave our boy in his care. We arranged a late-night pick up and, on collection, whilst happy to see us, our Lab was in no rush to leave Tristan; he’d obviously had a great time and had warmed to Tristan and we were over the moon that the stay had worked out so well. We are looking forward to our next stay.

Tristan was great looking after our Westie. Very quick to reply to messages sent and happy to organise a meet up when we asked. Will 100% be booking our pup in for another stay soon.

I highly recommend Tristan. We had never left our dog Bobby with anyone before and were naturally apprehensive. However Tristan was happy for us to visit in advance so that he and Bobby could meet and each other and we could ask any questions. Tristan looked after Bobby for 8 nights and sent us daily updates and photos. Bobby was clearly well cared for and settled in well. As Tristan worked from home it was good to know that he was always around for Bobby. Even though Bobby was pleased to see us when we got back he looked disappointed to see Tristan disappear! We will definitely be using Tristan in the future.

Tristan is a kind, caring and responsible person with a big heart and love for dogs. Knowing Tristan, he has been responsible for many dogs over the years having cared for and owned several throughout his life so far. Tristan understands the requirement dogs bring being attentive to there wants and needs and ensuring they keep there routine for walks, food, care and sleep. Any dog would be lucky to stay with Tristan.

A typical day

I know how important it is that dogs are stimulated during the day, and that's why I'll make sure they have exercise, plenty of bathroom breaks, and lots of play time and attention. There are plenty of walking opportunities close to my home, including parks, the bay, the city and Penarth.

It's important to let me know if your dog has any special needs that I need to be aware of, including personality traits, physical conditions, and dietary requirements. It's also valuable to know how they behave on and off a lead and how they interact with strangers, in order to ensure they get exercise in areas that's appropriate for them and their preferences.
