Pet care experience

Calm, thoughtful, and friendly

I grew up around dogs and have always been around them. I have a senior husky I got as a pup, and my wife and I have a poodle mix that we got at eight weeks. I lived with a Malinois during its puppy years and really enjoyed training with her. I also have experience pet-sitting for many friends' dogs ranging from a ten-pound chihuahua mix to a one-hundred-pound Malamute and many in between.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced backyard and I have two dogs that are very friendly and playful. I would want to have our dogs meet for some walks and play times before I would consider boarding them in my home. I am also really good at solo walks with dogs, and have a background in hospitality so I know how to treat others' pets and homes with the kindness and respect they deserve.

Tom is amazing! He has an uncanny ability to connect with just about any dog and bring out the best in them. He has trained several dogs of his own diff with different breeds and temperaments, and has consulted with me when I was training my rescue pup. On a human level, Tom is kind, generous and upbeat and fun to be around. If you need someone to help with your furry friend, he’s your guy!

I think it's important to know how the pet likes to be approached. Some dogs are very outgoing and some are more reserved-- I like to nurture that and meet dogs where they feel comfortable. Reactivity triggers are also important to know before going on a walk. Squirrels? Other dogs, big or small? Cats? Does anything set them off or are they cool and collected? Reactivity is not necessarily a bad thing, just something I like to know ahead of time so I can be proactive.
