I have multiple hustles, working as a gigging musician, a freelance writer, editor, and picking up catering shifts, all of which gives me the tremendous luxury of (usually) setting my own schedule. My work is portable, so I'm availAble for house- and pet-sitting, and I can easily work home visits and walks into my daily routines.

I think most pets really thrive with a sense of routine and of knowing what the boundaries they can expect are, so I will strive to make your pet care routines mine when doing in-home visits or taking your dogs for walks. I've seen with our cats how much our pets thrive when they know what to expect and when they have the comfort of familiar routines.

Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm with sheep, goats dogs, and about 20 domestic, feral, and semi-feral cats. But I didn't become a cat parent until 2012, when a lovely black cat named Sasha adopted me and my wife. We cared for Sasha until she passed on in 2020, and she was very much my familiar, or maybe my second soul mate. She had the progressive kidney illness some cats get, and she also had an issue with her blood clotting, so I have experience administering fluids, as well as steroid pills. Currently, we have two wonderful, hilarious cats, Sophie and Gray Beast. Sophie was a cat we "fostered" when she was living under a friend;'s house during a freeze. We ended up naming her after about two days and adopting her. She is a lovely Siamese and was I think pretty traumatized from living outside. It's been wonderful to watch her blossom into the queen of the house. Gray Beast is FIV+, and he is a very scrappy alley cat who was living under the last home we owned in New Orleans before moving to Albuquerque. We were feeding and caring for him, so when we evacuated for Hurricane Ida, he became an inside cat. For a long time, we kept them separate, but we've socialized them, and we all hang out together now.

Reviews

Tom has taken such great care of my pup! He is receptive to his needs, has great communication, and I feel confident my pup is in good hands.

Tom was such a great guy and the dogs loved him. He is very thoughtful and did everything possible to give our fur babies some love while we were away for 5 days. ♥️

Tom cared for my pup for 5 days while I was out of town and did a fantastic job. My pup seems to love him and we had no issues. My dog has anxiety so I'm anxious to leave him with people for more than a few days but it was so nice knowing he was being taken care of so well. I will be using Tom again for dog walking/dog sitting for my pup. Highly recommend.
Tom was super and kind and really enjoyed our dogs. He was there constantly and was interactive and sent us pictures of their day. We were very grateful to have a stress-free time not having to worry about our pets.
