- I work at home so almost always here in my 1930’s three-bedroom apartment on the second (top) floor overlooking our garden at back in a safe and quiet neighborhood two blocks to the lake and one block to Smith Park with giant redwoods and 3 acres of manicured lawns dogs thrill to be in! (always on leash, occasionally with my 20' leash). - I do a lot of walking anyway, dogs or no dogs so they all get four-five walks every 24 hours. In my nine years with Rover I've never canceled on a single client.

**No dog has ever gotten loose or been bitten, ever, always on leash (except my fencened garden), never allowed to snatch junk off the street or get foxtails or deal with scary dogs on walks. Leash-pullers & reactive dogs not a problem, really don't even mention it! *I've boarded literally thousands of dogs in my apartment part time and never met ones I couldn't learn to like even the troublemakers, "there are no bad dogs, just bad owners" so everybody gets the same attention care & comfort. I've learned how to read dogs quickly and rarely turn one down and if I did I can tell they wouldn't be happy, There's nothing worse than boarding a dog who is miserable, so I make sure it never happens. *Exclusive boardings are occasionally extra. I never board another dog with yours without prior permission and only if I personally know the other to be peaceful, polite and an enjoyable friend for yours. *There are no other dogs, cats, birds, snakes, gerbils or salamanders here, no kids or weird roommates just me working on my literacy and antiquarian book business. *The goal is not a tolerable time but one entirely enjoyable for all, there's nothing worse than caring for a doggie who doesn't like it here and so that never happens because I take pains to ensure a convivial, delightful experience for all. *I pay close attention to their health, digestion & elimination (I scrutinize every poop, yes), I'm very sensitive to their fears, anxiety, ingrained habits, and modes of entertainment. I have baskets with all kinds of toys, a 20' leash, and puzzle bowls. I have an extremely long hallway in my apartment, like a bowling alley that's ideal for throwing ball on rainy days. *Worried about your dog barking? I don't because they never do here, and if they do my apartment shares no walls with any others. I have crates and pens but never use them unless they prefer that to sleep. *I am expert with separation anxiety therefore that almost never happens here. *Besides the companionship I particularly enjoy observing and studying the psychology and behavior of dogs, they are all unique and beautiful in their own way, and I've never met a dog I didn't like. *For all this I charge a little more than the average Rover person.

**Meet & Greet required for all new clients, and not at the last minute if possible. Tell me if you want an exclusive boarding ,in other words no other dogs. That's not a problem. *Note: In my eight years with Rover I've never canceled on a client. I'm a professional living alone in my three bedroom apartment in a quiet safe neighborhood overlooking a small fenced garden one block to the park, two to the lake. *My calendar is not always correct as I have other clients who don't use Rover so just ask. *If you're not sure of your dates I'll pencil them in and if another client asks about any of your dates I will check with you first and that's when you'll have to make a firm reservation or not, there is no obligation.
A typical day
*4-5 walks a day no matter what, (unless they don't want to), usually to the verdant, peaceful Smith Park, for exercise we go up and down Haddon Hill and check out the mansions. *I always send daily updates and plenty of photos. I always take them out soon as I wake up (no bladder stretching here), then a long late morning or noonish walk, then afternoon a short one about 15 mins, the longest walk is usually after dinner, 30-60 mins then a quick one in the garden just before we turn in. Dogs almost always sleep in the bed, if they have a hard time getting to sleep I can read them cat story. Their water bowl is always full. On hot days my apartment stays cool, I have plenty of dog beds, toys, safe bones and puzzle-bowls.

Pet care experience
Having trouble picking out a boarder here? it's not just how many reviews they have it's how many REPEAT bookings. Every February I lower my rate from $100-$60, nobody goes anywhere in February apparently! I'm a lifelong owner (not now), boarded thousands, advocate & fundraiser for the SF Humane Soc., 2 years behavioral training with Julie Kircher at the Sonoma Humane Soc., I began training dogs 1998, then for three years socialized hundreds of dogs at the Sonoma Animal Shelter. If we couldn't socialize them within a week they were usually put down--high pressure work. - No dog has ever gotten loose or been bitten here, ever, always on leash (except my fencened garden), never allowed to snatch junk off the street or get foxtails or deal with scary dogs on walks. Leash-pullers & reactive dogs not a problem, don't even mention it! I've never canceled on any client. I take great care to ensure that. - I've boarded literally thousands of dogs in my apartment part time and very rarely meet one I didn't like, even the troublemakers, 'There are No Bad Dogs.' 'Everybody deserves the same great care and comfort. I've learned how to read dogs quickly and rarely meet one I couldn't board.

Reviews

Todd is fantastic! Trustworthy and knows and loves dogs!

Todd was a life saver! My dog sitter was a no show and I called Todd and he more than happy to help. Clearly he has a love for animals. It was my first time with Todd and when when my dog was scheduled to be picked up he didn't want to leave!! Will definitely be calling Todd in the future.

Todd is a wonderful caregiver and dog lover! He really makes your pup feel cared for and you as a dog owner in the loop the entire stay. We will be back soon for sure!!!

Our dog Albie was very well looked after during his stay with Todd. Plenty of walks and cuddles and Albie returned home a happy dog!
