I work full-time from my home in Schaumburg. I have a spacious two-bedroom, second-floor apartment in a quiet, residential area of Schaumburg. I take my dog on several walks a day - 4 to 5 to be exact! I have access to a small dog park/dog run in my apartment community and will provide plenty of exercise if your pup needs it. I have a warm, comfortable home, and my dog is very social, patient, accommodating, and adaptable to other dogs' personalities. I have hosted several foster dogs and he is great at reading their energy and personalities and adapts well to them. I am home a great deal, so your pup won't be left alone for hours on end. I can accommodate crating, or free-roaming depending on your dogs' needs. I have experience with canine medical and veterinary needs and I'm more than happy to attend to various special needs. I own a car and can transport your dog to veterinary appointments, or provide entertainment and engagement through trips for pup cups, pet-friendly establishments like Home Depot or TJ Maxx, forest preserves, parks, or any other dog-friendly locations, if you prefer or desire.

I work from home, and therefore I'm attentive and can keep a close, watchful eye on your pup, and you should rest easily knowing your fur baby will not be alone for hours on end. I am experienced in addressing behavioral issues via hours of training, handling hundreds of dogs, providing dog walking, and assessing pet behavioral and medical issues through the volunteer work I do with rescue. I take safety and security very seriously, and it is always top of mind. I never let dogs roam off-leash outdoors and use two leashes and/or a leash and harness combination to ensure safety and security at all times.

Information Todd K. would like to know about your pet
If your pup has special needs, I am happy to accommodate them. From administering medications, to special diets, or caring for senior dogs or dogs with mobility issues, I can adeptly and lovingly take care of your unique needs. Unfortunately, the community in which I live has specific breed restrictions, so I unfortunately, will not be able to board in my home pure-bred pit bulls (American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bullies, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, etc), Cane Corsos, Chows, Wolf Hybrids, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, and Dobermans) - mixed-breed dogs that include one or more of these mixes (along with other breeds accepted by my community) should be fine.
A typical day
My days typically start with a brisk morning walk for pups to stretch their legs, get their sniffs in, and "do their business". It's usually about a 20-30 minute walk, but I can accommodate a shorter walk if needed. From there, it's breakfast time, followed by plenty of pets and affection before I start my home-based work day. Work breaks include pets, hugs (if your dog is open to it), hugs, and a short bit of play time. The second walk is mid-morning, and is typically a bit longer so your pup can explore more and get their steps in. They get a treat after the walk then settle in for an early afternoon nap. A mid-afternoon walk is next to get some sunshine and fresh air and may be a trip to the dog run that is right across the street in my apartment community - they can explore and sniff or I can toss a frisbee or ball for a little more cardio if your pup so desires. My work day finishes about 5 and we have some play time or enrichment exercises until dinner time. We then will settle in for a bit of couch cuddling before our fourth walk - and then settle in for the night.

Pet care experience
I work from home, so your pup won't need to be alone for multiple hours. I minimize the number of dogs I care for at any given time - no more than two dogs boarded at a time, so I provide more focused care for your baby. While I don't have a yard, we will go on at least four daily walks in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is a fenced dog run in my community, and if you choose to take advantage of it, I'll happily let your dog partake. I hope you will consider me when selecting a sitter for your beloved fur child! I have been involved in rescuing dogs for the past 20 years...It's my life's calling. I have successfully matched over 100 worthy, loving rescue dogs with their forever families in my volunteer rescue work and it's among my proudest accomplishments. Additionally, I continue to dedicate countless hours to rescue, volunteering with no fewer than four local rescues throughout the Chicagoland area. I not only have experience with placing dogs with their forever families, but I also have a wealth of experience in managing medical issues, including administering medications and transporting dogs to vet appointments, recruiting fosters, dog walking, dog socialization, transporting dogs across state lines from high-kill to no-kill shelters, pulling dogs from high-kill shelters and negotiating their transfers to no-kill shelters, dog grooming, kennel management, and dog socialization. I consider dogs as family members and provide a warm, loving, interactive, compassionate home, time, attention, and devotion to canine citizens of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. I currently have an adopted rescue dog - a beagle mix named Wally who is my life. He saved me, I didn't save him! He was rescued after being abused and abandoned - he was tossed out of a car at an Alabama gas station and he is safe now and for the rest of his life. I consider him the son I never had.
Reviews

We’re so thankful to Todd for taking such great care of Maeve while we were at a friend’s wedding. From the start, he was responsive, thoughtful, and kept us updated with sweet photos of Maeve enjoying herself. She was happy, relaxed, and in great hands. Highly recommend!

Great guy

Todd was an exceptional dog sitter! Initially, my very spoiled dog had some anxiety issues and Todd handled this with patience and expertise. He provided photos and videos, easing my mind that "all was well" and that my dog, Gabby was being well taken care of. Eventually, she felt right at home, jumping on the bed, and spending the night with her "foster dad". I would highly recommend Todd to anyone who is looking for an experienced dog sitter, as it is clear that his passion for dogs is reflected in the questions he asked and the way he catered to my pup! 5 stars!!!! Thank you Todd!
