I have been around dogs my whole life. Growing up, my parents brought home not one, but two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Olive and Winnie. As they’ve gotten older, I’ve gained experience providing the extra care that senior dogs often need. Winnie is diabetic, so I am comfortable administering insulin and monitoring her health. She is also deaf, which has taught me the importance of staying attentive and adapting communication to meet her needs. Olive has only a few teeth left, so I’ve helped adjust her diet by softening her kibble with broth to make mealtimes easier and more comfortable for her. Caring for both dogs has given me firsthand experience with senior dogs, special-needs pets, medication administration, and the patience and attention required to keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable.
