I'd want to know about their daily routine, like when they eat, how often they need walks, and any special habits or preferences they have. Understanding their diet is also key, so I’ll know what to feed them and if they have any food restrictions or allergies. I’d also like to know what kind of activities they enjoy—whether they love to play fetch, go for hikes, or just cuddle on the couch. In addition, I'd want to be aware of any behavioral quirks or training they have, like how they react to new people or pets and any commands they understand. And of course, it's crucial to know about their health—any medical conditions, medications, or emergency procedures I should be aware of. I want to make sure that your pets feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you're away, and knowing all these details will help me do just that!
A typical day
I like to mix things up to keep it fun! Depending on the pet’s personality, I’m up for anything from playing fetch at the park to trying out some brain games like puzzle toys. If they love a good chase, we’ll go for a game of hide-and-seek, or maybe even teach them a new trick or two. But honestly, I think it’s all about what makes them happiest—whether that’s running around, snuggling, or just hanging out. I’m here to make sure they’re entertained, safe, and most importantly, feel loved.

We booked Christine for 3 nights of housesitting. Although the cats were okay, and fed, which I am grateful for, this was not a good experience. We left extremely detailed instructions on how to care for both our house and our three cats. When Christine came by to meet with us beforehand, she asked how long she needed to be at the house during the day. I assured her that we didn’t expect her to be there all day and that the cats were fine on their own for 8 or more hours, assuming that she was asking because she might have other work commitments. We showed her which room she would be sleeping in, as well as instructions for pulling her car onto our driveway at night, and also asked that she spend a couple of hours in the back room with the one cat who is separated from the other two for safety reasons. She agreed to all of this. To my surprise, two nights into the three-night house sitting stint, I noticed that based on our doorbell camera, she had only been spending about 16-20 minutes at our house morning and evening. I asked if she had spent the night either night and she said no. I was confused and extremely upset but tried to remain civil as I was worried for the cats’ wellbeing for our final night away. She said it was a misunderstanding and that she thought we had provided a room as an option, but that she was not required to stay at our place at night. Why would I have hired someone for housesitting rather than drop-in visits unless I expected them to spend the night?! I am baffled by the response she gave me and the lack of care or understanding from her. In our detailed instructions we requested that she set the alarm when she was not at our house, and asked that she feed the cats between 6-9pm and between 6-10am. I checked the doorbell footage and she had not fed the animals by 10 am any of the mornings that we hired her. She also disregarded our request to put the empty food containers in the dishwasher and threw them in the trash instead, and had not set the alarm when she left for the entire night on the first night, leaving our house unprotected. The alarm instructions were literally one of the first things on our page of instructions which makes me wonder if she read any of the rest. I am so disappointed. This experience ruined our trip: instead of focusing on bridesmaid duties at my best friend’s wedding, I was constantly worried about my pets’ wellbeing. If you are looking for drop in visits, she might be suitable, but I very much regret asking her to housesit for us.
