Availability
My veterinary school schedule varies throughout the semester, but it is planned well in advance. I keep my Rover calendar updated so my availability is always accurate. In general, I am available for early morning visits before class, evening visits after class, and most weekends. I also have additional weekday availability depending on my class schedule. If you're planning ahead for a trip, vacation, or recurring visits, send me your dates and location and I'll let you know what I can accommodate.

My veterinary training has taught me to pay attention to the small changes that can matter with pets, like when a normally social dog seems withdrawn or a cat's eating habits suddenly change. If something unexpected happens, I stay calm, gather information, communicate clearly, and help determine what needs to happen next. As a VMCVM student, I'm familiar with local veterinary resources and emergency care options in the area. For walks, I take safety seriously. I check collars, harnesses, and leashes before heading out, avoid off-leash situations outside of secure fenced areas, and adjust activity based on weather, temperature, and your pet's comfort level. During summers, that also means being mindful of hot pavement and heat exposure. When caring for your home, I treat it with the same care and respect I would expect from someone entering my own home. I follow your instructions, secure doors and gates after visits, bring in packages or mail if requested, and leave your home the way you expect it to be.

Before booking, I'd like to learn what makes your pet comfortable and anything I should know ahead of time. Helpful information includes: - Feeding schedule and daily routine - Medications or medical conditions - Favorite toys, treats, and activities - Training cues they know - Fears or triggers (thunderstorms, fireworks, strangers, other animals) - Leash behavior or reactivity - Escape tendencies like door bolting - Anything unusual that is normal for your pet I also like to have your veterinarian's information, emergency contact information, and any household instructions you'd like me to follow. I also welcome questions before booking, especially if your pet has medical needs, anxiety, or a routine that requires extra attention. Send me your pet's name, your dates, and any details you think are important, and we can set up a Meet & Greet.
A typical day
A typical visit depends on what your pet enjoys and what they need that day. For dogs, that may mean a walk around the neighborhood, some playtime, practicing commands they already know, or simply spending time together if they prefer a quieter visit. For cats, it may mean playtime, brushing, medication, refreshing food and water, cleaning the litter box, or giving them attention if they are social. For pets with medical needs, visits may include medication administration and paying closer attention to changes in behavior, appetite, or comfort. Before leaving, I'll make sure your pet is settled, your home is secure, and you'll receive an update with photos so you know how the visit went.

Pet care experience
I'm a third-year veterinary student at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and have worked with animals professionally for several years through both veterinary medicine and pet care. Before veterinary school, I worked as a veterinary assistant, where I helped care for hospitalized patients, assisted with treatments, and supported pets with a variety of medical needs. I've administered medications including oral medications, eye and ear medications, and topical treatments, as well as assisted with treatments such as subcutaneous fluids under veterinary supervision. That experience has made me comfortable caring for pets who need extra attention, whether that's giving medications, monitoring changes in appetite or behavior, helping senior pets stay comfortable, or noticing when something seems different from their normal. Outside of the clinic, I've provided dog walking and in-home pet sitting for dogs and cats with many different personalities and needs. Some pets need plenty of exercise and activity, while others are happiest with a calm visit, their normal routine, and some extra attention. Whether your pet needs medication support, senior care, or simply someone dependable while you're away, I bring professional animal experience and veterinary training to every visit.

Thomas did an amazing job looking after our home and two dog children for seven nights while we were out of town! Our fur babies (ages 13 and 3) are rarely left alone and have very different personalities and needs. One is large, young and full of energy and the other is older, small and sleepy! He was wonderful with both! We received daily updates and pictures and we didn’t worry at all. Very grateful for Thomas and how well he worked with all of us. He was incredibly professional from interview/introduction and throughout the entire house sitting process. We were also impressed that the house looked exactly the same as when we left (which does not always happen!) He is above 4 stars!!

Thomas was great. He kept me updated and sent pictures of my dog Mabel. I was able to fully enjoy my trip knowing that Mabel was being taken care of. Also, I returned to an apartment that looked exactly like I left it and a happy dog.
Thomas took excellent care of Teddy and our house while we were out of town. He followed all of our instructions carefully and kept us updated with photos and notes. Teddy looked relaxed and well taken care of the whole time, and we came home to a happy dog! We would gladly book with Thomas again!
