Pet care experience

Retired Farm Nana Loves Pets

I've had senior dogs, given insulin and oral meds. Raised race horses and am a firm believer that pets are members of the family. I have stairs for the bed for senior dogs. I do have a chihuahua who has cataracts and deaf but he likes other dogs. Although i generally take one family at a time, on occasion, there may be some overlap of one family's dog and another family's dog. Usually this is only for several hours and i have gates to keep the dogs separated. With the high cost of living I can no longer skip days to keep bookings from having a few hours overlap. if this is important to you, you can book a day before and a day after your actual need to ensure that your dog is the only dog I am caring for at that time. Talk to me about your individual needs. I do my best to accommodate pet parents preferences. i only take SMALL and MEDIUM dogs in my home. i can care for LARGE DOGS in your home. I will feed your dog highly processed kibble if thats what you send but believe that is the equivalent of feeding a child a steady diet of Cheetos and calling it cheese. Please consider a healthier diet for your pet.

House Sitting • Okt. 21, 2025

Significant issues with this sitter- over communicated, even after asked for twice daily updates only; gave unsolicited advice on our pets’ health three times; continued to give water in excess to our puppy, who threw up and urinated with greater frequency; and had to clean up and reorganize after returning from an international trip, even after asking the sitter to address (silverware drawer thrown together, dishes in dishwasher, trash left behind, film on countertop and kitchen surfaces, etc.) We also discovered two Advil/Motrin pills on the floor and uncleaned pile of excrement.

Theresa was a great sitter! Reliable, communicative, observant, experienced, friendly, and kind. Theresa went above and beyond to ensure that my elderly spoiled cats were healthy and comfortable, even being sure that they had squirrels (their favorite) to watch on cat tv. Since one of my cats is insulin dependent diabetic, I always worry about leaving them but felt very confident that they were in great care with Theresa, and it was quite clear from the pictures and videos that they were also very happy and comfortable with her visits.

Schedule

I'm currently retired and stay at home 24/7 writing books. Your pet will only be alone on Sunday morning church. I do not have a fenced yard, therefore your pet will be walked on a leash as needed. If your pet is NOT leash trained, I can work with him/her for an extra fee if you wish.

Where your pet will stay

Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog
No children present

Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

I have a calm older chihuahua to keep your pet company. I've had all sorts of rescue dogs and know they all come with their own baggage. I'm patient, kind and loving. Let's talk about your pet's specific needs. I can watch your pets at YOUR HOME or MINE but would need to bring my chihuahua with me for overnights. I can pick up your pet for an extra fee. I can give oral meds or check sugar levels or give injections for diabetic dogs. If you have a farm, I can take care of your horses. I no longer have a farm, but bred Thoroughbreds. You must have a halter that fits your fur baby. Collars are too easily slipped.

Pets

A typical day

Our neighborhood has lots of dogs and smells to explore. The circle is about 1/4 mile long, and we can walk it several times a day. I'll throw a favorite toy for your dog--please bring it with you or we can cuddle on the sofa while watching TV or while I write books. Lots of scratches are free! Food is a big part of everyone's day, and warm food and treats makes the day better. Lounging in the sun on the patio on a warm day or by the large window is a doggie favorite. If your small or medium dog is high energy, we will take more fast walks or throw a favorite toy for how every many hours it takes to use up that energy.

Let me know ahead of time if your furbaby has any special needs or preferences. I'm 65 but in excellent health, but in case of emergency, my daughter, an interior designer, also works from home and can step in until Rover could find a replacement provider if need be. Do not worry about my age. Maturity and experience is its own perk. I've handled most emergencies in my lifetime. You can feel confident that you furbaby will be safe and happy. I've had a blind dog and a deaf dog. I had a dog who had seizures and one who was incontinent. I had a diabetic dog and watched several dogs with separation anxiety. When you come for a meet and greet please bring your halter and leash. A brief walk is the best way for your fur baby to get acquainted with Dozer although if the weather doesn’t cooperate we can meet and greet inside.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
