A typical day
A typical day for a dog under my care starts with a morning walk or play session to burn off energy and take care of their needs, followed by breakfast prepared exactly to their routine. Midday, we’d enjoy more playtime, cuddles, or even a trip to their favorite park or vet appointments if needed—I’m happy to drive them wherever they need to go. Evenings include another walk, dinner, and winding down with some quiet bonding time. I adapt to each dog’s unique needs, ensuring they feel loved, happy, and secure throughout the day.

Hi! I'm Thalia, a 20-year-old from Cuba and currently a Lake Forest College student living in Highland Park. I have extensive experience caring for animals. Since I was very little, I've always been surrounded by animals. Back in Cuba, my mom and I would rescue many cats and dogs, and we've always had at least five cats at home. I've also volunteered for over two years with animal shelters such as Orphans of the Storm, taking foster cats with medical needs home until they find their forever one. This experience, along with my intent to become a vet after college, makes me comfortable working with animals with medical needs and following care prescribed by doctors. This lifelong experience has made me very patient and responsible, with a deep understanding of the skills and commitment required to care for pets. Thalia Leon Rodriguez is very caring and responsible with animals and brings a lifetime of experience caring for and nursing pets. She is respectful, reliable, and excels particularly with special needs animals. She meets them where they are at, with close attention. As her aunt, I have personally seen her care for a diabetic foster cat and an elderly dog with a heart condition. The cat required daily shots and specific dietary requirements; the cat was prone to stress and had several health crises. Thalia became very in tune with his health indicators and responded swiftly when he became ill. Since childhood she has rescued dozens of animals, primarily homeless cats, back to health. She is keenly interested in biology and veterinary medicine so her respect for and interest in animals extends beyond domestic pets.
