Pet care experience

Calm energy for anxious pets

I’ve been working with animals for about 17 years, ever since I was 15 and got my first job in a vet hospital’s kennel. Since then I’ve worked in kennels, a dog daycare and a grooming salon, as well as caring for many pets in a home setting, both mine and those of my clients. I’ve also run a dog daycare out of my home when space and my then landlord permitted. Because petsitting is my main job (I also work from home on my laptop) I’m able to stay with your pets most of the time, and my schedule is ideal for pets that struggle with anxiety or destructiveness or otherwise cannot be left home alone for long periods of time.

Safety, trust & environment

I utilize an awareness of my surroundings and an attention to detail to make sure your pets are safe and secure in your home or yard. I am always careful when entering or exiting property and homes to make sure I never have an escapee situation. I am familiar with the use of a variety of collar and harness types and I have walked dogs from tiny Chihuahuas to Mastiffs over 200 pounds. I do my utmost to make sure my clients never have cause to worry when their pets are in my care. I encourage all pet parents to give me written instructions to make sure I have all important information if there’s ever a time during the trip that they can’t be reached immediately.

Tessa did an amazing job for us! We had to book her last minute due to another pet sitter cancellation. She was a lifesaver. She did an amazing job with our pets and was very tidy in our home. She communicated very well and also sent us lots of pictures. We will definitely rebook with her next time we need a pet sitter.

Tessa took great care of our senior dog Roxie and our home. Having Tessa there to make sure Roxie was loved made our vacation so much more relaxing and fun!

Tessa was an angel. I left my cat with a family member when I was out of the country for vacay, but after a few escape attempts we had to relocate him. It was a scramble to coordinate his return home and she handled the whirlwind like a champ. She was super flexible with all the changes and even offered to stay over longer so my kitty would have company while I was flying back home. I also got super cute photos during my trip so it was lovely to see him happy and healthy when I was away!

Schedule

My second job (petsitting is my first) is something I can do remotely on my laptop, so with the exclusion of grocery shopping or an appointment I’m free to stay with your pets. Clients often hire me to help with dogs that struggle with separation anxiety or a need to use the bathroom frequently, as I don’t have to leave the house for long periods of time. Because my other work is remote and freelance, my schedule is adaptable to fit the needs of your pets. Whether they’ll want to be up at dawn to go potty or they like to sleep in until noon, I can accommodate pretty much any routine. I am able to provide potty breaks and playtime as often as needed due to my flexible schedule, as well as accommodate pets that may need medications or food at certain times due to health conditions.

Besides their daily routine, It's always great to know about a pet's quirks. Every pet is unique, and it helps me provide the best possible care when I know as much about them as possible. What commands do they know? What's their favorite toy? Is there any spots where they love/hate to be petted? How do they walk on a leash? Anything you can tell me about them helps me care for them better.
