Pet care experience

Zoomies welcome—yard is fenced!

I've lived with and cared for dogs for over 20 years and have been on Rover for over 2 & a 1/2 years! I genuinely love both dogs and cats, and we treat every pet like part of the family. I’ve raised puppies and cared for senior dogs, so I’m comfortable handling a wide range of needs. Either myself or my husband, Andrew, is usually home, except Tuesdays and Thursdays when we’re in the office—but our neighbor stops by mid-day for potty breaks. Pets have full run of the house when someone is home, and we always follow your rules to keep things consistent and comfortable for your pet. I send daily photo and video updates (usually in the evenings), and while we mostly host larger dogs, small pups are always welcome and do great here!

Safety, trust & environment

My husband and I have a 5-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix named Nova. She gets along especially well with puppies and more submissive dogs, as she tends to be the alpha in our home. We also have an 11-year-old cat Elmo who mostly keeps to herself, lounging on her cat tree. She’s good at setting boundaries, so we prefer dogs who will respect her space. (she is declawed) Our home is a split-level with a gate that allows us to separate our pets from yours if needed. We also have two kennels available—one XXL and one large. Dogs are welcome on the furniture, but we usually prefer they don’t sleep in our bed (Nova already takes up most of the space!).

Pets

A typical day

Our home is in a quiet, secluded neighborhood with a fenced yard that the dogs love! We’re usually up by 7–7:30 AM and start the day with outdoor play—Nova is fetch-obsessed, which gets everyone’s zoomies going! Weather permitting, we’re in and out throughout the day for yard time. On hot days, we use the hose or splash pad, and if it’s rainy, we play in the garage. When we're inside, the pups have full range of the house and plenty of space to relax or play. Every day is a little different depending on the weather and how the dogs are getting along!

Let me know if your pet has any special needs or behaviors I should be aware of—especially things like fence jumping. Our fence is about 3 feet tall on the sides, and Nova has cleared it before, so it's helpful to know if your pup has a history of jumping! (we recently replaced one side of the fence to make it taller and plan to do the other side soon) Please make sure all care and feeding info is up to date, or feel free to label your dog's food to help me keep everything organized. If your dog has a favorite bed, blanket, or gets treats regularly, feel free to bring those along! No need to pack bowls or toys—we have plenty! Just a heads up: Nova is a super chewer, so I don’t usually mix personal toys in unless they’re kept separate, as she will definitely destroy them!
