Pet care experience

Tuskegee DVM Student

Hi! I’m Taylor, and I have extensive experience working with animals of all kinds, including dogs, cats, reptiles, small mammals, and large animals. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from North Carolina State Universith and recently completed my Master’s in Veterinary Medical Sciences with a concentration in Shelter Animal Medicine through the University of Florida. I also have professional veterinary hospital experience and am currently preparing to begin veterinary school at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. I’ve worked in veterinary clinics for several years and am comfortable with pets of all ages, sizes, and medical needs. I have experience administering medications and injections, monitoring post-surgical or senior pets, handling anxious animals, and recognizing when something may be medically concerning. I also have experience with puppy care/training and senior pet care, so I’m happy to accommodate different energy levels and routines. My goal is always to make your pets feel as comfortable and safe as possible while you’re away. I try to keep them on their normal routine, whether that means long walks, playtime, cuddle time, medication schedules, or just having someone patient and attentive around. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I treat every animal like they’re my own. For boarding: I currently live in a pet-friendly home environment and can accommodate different needs depending on your pet’s personality and comfort level. If your pet uses a crate/kennel, you’re welcome to bring it so they have something familiar from home. Safety is extremely important to me, and all outdoor time is supervised and leashed unless otherwise discussed. I’m very comfortable with pets that require extra care, including medications, injections, special feeding instructions, or senior accommodations. Please let me know about any medical conditions, behavioral concerns, fears, or routines ahead of time so I can make their stay as stress-free as possible. :)

It was easy to see that Lucy loved spending time with Taylor. They played and had a great time during Taylor’s visits. Taylor took the time to walk Lucy around our property and even check to make sure our chickens were doing ok.

Taylor was a lifesaver on short notice! We needed cat boarding while in the middle of a move, and she stepped up without hesitation. She gave our cat his own space and was clearly attentive to his needs the whole stay, spending quality time with him so he felt comfortable. At pickup, everything was ready to go and she'd even cleaned out his litter box beforehand. Highly recommend her for anyone who needs reliable, caring cat sitting!

Schedule

Pet care fits very naturally into my routine because caring for animals is already a huge part of my daily life. I have several years of veterinary hospital experience and recently completed my Master’s in Veterinary Medical Sciences with a concentration in Shelter Animal Medicine through the University of Florida online while working full time. I’m also preparing to begin veterinary school at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. Because of my background, I’m very comfortable handling pets with different personalities, energy levels, and medical needs. Outside of my regular responsibilities, I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that means walks, playtime, cuddle time, enrichment activities, or helping maintain their normal routines while their owners are away.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I work hard to create a calm, low-stress environment and to keep pets on routines that feel familiar to them. I’m experienced with a wide range of temperaments and medical needs, including senior pets, anxious pets, and pets requiring medications or injections. For boarding, pets are always supervised and outdoor time is safely managed on leash unless otherwise discussed. If your pet is crate-trained, you’re welcome to bring their crate or favorite items from home to help them feel more comfortable and secure during their stay. I believe communication is extremely important, so I always try to keep owners updated and make sure everyone feels confident and comfortable throughout the visit.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day depends on your pet’s personality and needs! I love incorporating walks, playtime, enrichment, cuddles, and relaxing downtime into their routine so they stay happy and comfortable while you’re away. I also enjoy working on basic training and reinforcing good habits if that’s something you’d like continued during their stay. Whether your pet is high-energy and loves adventures or prefers quiet companionship and couch time, I try to tailor their care to what makes them happiest and most comfortable.

Please let me know about any important information regarding your pet ahead of time, including medications, allergies, medical conditions, dietary restrictions, fears, behavioral concerns, or daily routines. I’m very comfortable administering medications and injections and have hands-on experience doing so in a veterinary setting. The more I know about your pet beforehand, the better I can make their experience safe, comfortable, and as stress-free as possible. I want every pet in my care to feel secure, understood, and well cared for while you’re away.
