Shelter Volunteer, Doggy Advocate!

Animal welfare and advocacy has been a part of my entire adult life. I started offering to take care of friends and family’s pets as a courtesy, but I want to cast my net further and offer peace of mind to everyone when they need someone to trust with their fur babies! I’ve been a canine volunteer at the Nebraska Humane Society for nearly four years. I directly handle dogs of all sizes, ages and temperaments, and I’ve had two years’ experience working with particularly challenging dogs in terms of behavior. Since becoming a volunteer I’ve served as a shadow trainer for new volunteers, and I’ve assisted adoptions staff by generating tailored biographical information through direct handling with each dog that helps them advocate for and adopt out waiting animals. I have been a foster parent in the past, another opportunity that has given me experience with various breeds and personalities! Additionally, I have experience and am comfortable in working with medically vulnerable dogs and dogs with special needs (blind, deaf, incontinence, etc.). My priorities beyond your dogs’ physical needs are to ensure that they feel safe, enriched and as loved as they are by their own family!

Safety, trust & environment

Whatever the service you need, I will come to you! Nobody knows your pets better than you do, so I will do my best to get a sense of what their typical routine looks like, where they are most comfortable taking walks outside, and what will make them feel relaxed when it’s time for bed, an often challenging time for pets that are looking for their parents! I respect and make the most of every dog’s unique personalities, so whether your pet is a couch potato or an athlete that needs lots of enrichment, I will tailor my time with them to meet their needs. Dogs that are high-energy and need ample stimulation can be my walking partner, and we will play games that are mentally enriching for them. I’ve learned to be creative and use what is available to appropriately entertain energetic pups! My dogs at home don’t like to change up their sleeping arrangements, so know that wherever your pup needs me to be at night to feel comfortable, I will be.

Taylor has watched our senior Vizsla multiple times. She cares for him as her own and leaves our house just as we left it. She also keeps us up to date with how he is doing and sends us pictures which we greatly appreciate.

It was wonderful to work with Taylor! She was on time to meet Stevie and Stanley, the weekend before the walk. And both dogs immediately loved her! They looked so happy in the pictures that she sent me at the end of the walk. I will definitely rebook with Taylor in the future…I know she will take good care of my babies!

Taylor has been a life saver. We have had Taylor watch our senior vizsla multiple times and she has been amazing! Great communication and managed his meds perfect. She was also very respectful of our home and left it exactly how we left it.

I am also available most evenings for folks that work late or are simply out of town.

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or dietary restrictions that I should be aware of. I will bring/use appropriate treats in case of any allergies, uncertainties, etc. I am able to give oral and injected medication, and I am comfortable bathing dogs if needed. I can administer basic first aid in case of an emergency. I have handled puppies, seniors, sick dogs, blind and deaf dogs, and I will ensure each dog is receiving the appropriate attention they prefer and deserve!
