Little Dogs, Doodles & Poodles!

I became a Rover sitter in 2022 and I've had the good fortune of taking care of over 100 dogs. I have come to the conclusion that my favorite breeds/cross breeds are little dogs, doodles and poodles. I will accept other breeds too, so don't hesitate to ask! One of my favorite 'regulars' doesn't fit the above description at all. And yes, I love her madly, and can't wait to sit her again. That said, if your dog is good natured, gets along well with his or her canine friends, and is housebroken, he or she is welcome here! Nothing is more precious to me than a happy dog's face looking back at me. Absolutely nothing! My Havipoo (Havanese/Poodle mix), Charlie, died in August of '22 and instead of adopting another dog, I decided to try out becoming a sitter on Rover! It has been fabulous! Definitely one of my best vocational decisions. :) I know and *love* the ins and outs of caring for pets--have cared for them since I was a small child. As a youth, in addition to caring for cats and dogs, we also had guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, turtles, fish, frogs, lizards, and snakes. Toward the end of his life, my dog Charlie had been diagnosed with several mild but chronic health issues, the symptoms of which I lovingly helped ease every day and night. Also, shortly before my elderly cat died (RIP 12/2021) he required injections of saline solution on a weekly basis for two months. It would be my honor to care for your fur baby(ies). My ultimate goals would be to make them feel right at home and if possible, win their affection! Turns out I'm pretty good at it!

Taylor was great with our 12 year old Kelbi who has severe anxiety. She was patient and willing to try different things with her in order to make her feel comfortable. We would definitely use Taylor again in the future. 😊🐕

Taylor did a great job taking care of our girl! It was our first time using rover and she was great about helping us feel good about leaving our girl with her. She was very communicative and sensitive to our dogs attachment issues. Highly recommend and will be using her again!!

My 2 year old pup has a chronic health condition that requires some extra care, so I was pretty concerned about finding a sitter who could adequately meet his needs. I feel like I hit the jackpot with Taylor. She followed all of my detailed instructions to make sure my boy was happy and healthy. She made sure he took his daily medicine, took him on plenty of walks, kept him on his daily schedule, and gave me several updates each day on how he was doing, particularly in the areas I told her I was most concerned about. When he was struggling to eat enough, she immediately let me know and had the patience to hand feed him and try several other strategies so he could meet his daily nutrition goals. Honestly, she treated him like her own, which gave me the ultimate peace of mind. It can be so hard to find sitters who genuinely care these days, but Taylor truly stands out for her professionalism, dedication, compassion, and heart. Thank you so much, Taylor! Looking forward to the next stay!

Pinot's first stay away from home in her 11-month life - and I could not be happier with having Taylor take care of her. It all sounded like doodle-fun to me! Persistence and kindness with a couple of Pinot's wrinkles also appreciated (and we have started our homework!). Photos and messages much appreciated while I was across the pond. Thank you.

Schedule

As long as I can get my workouts and errands done several days per week (usually in the mornings for a couple hours), I am good to go and free to watch your fur baby(ies) the rest of the day and night (and to my heart's delight). I enjoy staying home whenever I'm able. Total homebody. (BTW, please note that I charge extra for more than 8 hours of daycare. The rate you see on my profile is for a max of 8 hours. The amount of the additional rate is something we can discuss. Thank you.)

Safety, trust & environment

I enjoy a very clean home. Also, my couch cushions and throw-pillow cases are washable so they're also regularly laundered. I have a massive carpet cleaning machine as well that I use in between dog boardings (I have A LOT of carpet). Your dog can sleep on my bed if necessary as long you bathe him or her just prior to drop off! My back door that leads to the fenced yard can be propped open during the day when I'm not present so your pet(s) can go in and out at will. If you prefer, I can lock him/her inside when I'm away.

A typical day

FYI: Your dog(s) and cat(s) need to be fully up-to-date on vaccinations (according to their age), and monthly tick and flea meds for me to spend time with them here. No exceptions, sorry. :) When Charlie was alive and well, we walked twice per day, and that's the routine I'd maintain with your dog unless he or she needs additional walks. There's a well maintained dog park close by. If your dog enjoys them, I can take him or her/them either by foot or via car (I have a crate in the back seat or we could use whatever contraption you use to secure your pet(s) while traveling). My neighborhood is safe, clean and quiet. I have lived in the same cottage for 17 years and am well-known as a friendly and responsible neighbor. I am extremely fortunate to live here.

I'd like to know if there are any limitations or unique habits or proclivities you'd like me to know about your beloved pet. I am quite adaptable and able-bodied and will always do what is in my power to make your pet's life with me happy and carefree. Again, nothing is more precious to me than a happy dog's face looking back at me. Absolutely nothing.
