Loving home, fenced yard

Any dog who comes into our home quickly becomes part of the family. We love cuddling, playing, and enjoying all the extra love and personality a dog brings to our home. We have two boys, ages 5 and 6, who absolutely love dogs and get the biggest giggles out of playing fetch, giving treats, and spending time with them. Our sweet dog, Wally, is always ready for a playmate and does wonderfully with dogs of all sizes—from a 4-pound Pomeranian to a 90-pound Bernese Mountain Dog. I’ve provided both short- and long-term care for dogs with a variety of needs. I was once entrusted with caring for a close friend’s dog for nearly two weeks immediately following significant surgery, including making sure he received the extra attention and care he needed during recovery. I take a lot of pride in being a responsible dog owner and caregiver. I’m prepared to make sure every dog in my care has everything they need to be happy, comfortable, and successful—from medications and special care instructions to food, treats, poop bags, and plenty of love. My goal is for every dog who stays with us to feel safe, spoiled, and right at home.

It was my first time leaving my dog with someone and I was quite worried but Tawny was amazing. Very patient, sent me lots of pictures and was very flexible. Handled my dog with a lot of love and grace. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Tawny provided a safe and fun environment for my dog. She was friendly, professional and respectful in all our interactions, which helped make everything go smoothly. Our dog came home happy and tired and was excited to see Tawny and her dog, Wally, when we returned the next day. Such a good feeling to know our little buddy was well cared for in our absence. Thanks, Tawny!!

Tawny was great. Pictures regularly. I was afraid Marley wouldn’t want to come home. I would definitely use her again. Marley loved it.

Dewey had a great time staying with Tawny for the weekend. Tawny's flexibility made drop-off and pick-up so easy and convenient (even coming home late from the airport on a Sunday!). I felt very comfortable leaving Dewey with Tawny - she was very thorough in asking important questions. I also loved that I received so many adorable photos and text updates! Absolutely recommend.

Schedule

I work a regular 8–4 schedule from home on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I am out of the house on Wednesdays. Because I’m home for the majority of the day, I’m able to provide plenty of companionship and attention to pets throughout the day, while also being mindful of potty breaks, meals, medications, and any other needs they may have. I’m also available before and after work for walks, playtime, and extra cuddles.

Safety, trust & environment

We have a fully fenced yard and a very friendly pup, Wally, who would love to keep your fur baby company. I’m comfortable caring for dogs regardless of whether they’re crate trained, and I’m happy to follow whatever routine makes them feel most comfortable. If dogs need some space or a little time apart for any reason, I can easily accommodate that by using separate areas of the house and managing their access as needed. My priority is making sure every dog in our care feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

A typical day

I love taking dogs for walks around the neighborhood and exploring the nearby park. For dogs who are reliable off leash, having a chance to safely run and play outside is always a great way to burn some energy. On rainy days, I like to keep dogs entertained with fun brain games and enrichment activities that provide plenty of mental stimulation without needing to brave the weather. And for dogs who are smaller, older, or simply prefer a cozy day at home, I’m equally happy to slow things down with plenty of cuddles, companionship, and attention. I’m happy to tailor activities to each dog’s age, energy level, and personality.

I don’t have any breed preferences, and I welcome dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and personalities. I do prefer a meet and greet before committing to a stay so we can make sure everyone—including your dog, and Wally—is comfortable and a good fit. Because we have two young children—who are typically at school outside of school closures and for the remainder of summer—and another dog in the home, dogs staying with us do need to be comfortable around both children and other dogs. During the meet and greet, I’d love to learn about your dog’s personality, routines, quirks, and any behaviors or situations that may cause anxiety or stress. Knowing what they love—from favorite treats and toys to the things that help them feel safe and comfortable—helps me create a successful stay and make them feel right at home.
