Cats & Dogs are My Spirit Animals!

I used to run a small housesitting business in New Mexico... Starting with a love for my family's dogs (from the age of 3+! Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Maltese, and Chow Chows), I gradually expanded to helping care for other's "fur babies." Around the age of 11/12, my sister and I started our own housesitting/dog walking/horse feeding business, which continued until we both were in college (2016). Through word-of-mouth -advertising, we were able to help care for various family friends' animals and became repeat caretakers for our clients. I grew to understand how to care for animals with various medical needs (gastrointestinal upset, arthritis, amputations & rehabilitation, pancreatic cancer), administering multiple daily medications with formulated diets and maintaining daily routines while the owners vacationed or traveled for work. At one time, I even helped care for 4 horses (scooping poop was interesting)! Since graduating with my bachelor's, I’ve worked in HR, as a phlebotomist, and currently work full-time work as a dermatology medical assistant in Live Oak but reside in the Monte Vista area. ***I do work in clinic Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30 but have flexibility to end my day early or even pop in during lunch.*** When I'm housesitting, I am primarily at the house playing with the fur babies I'm taking care of when I am not working. I want to assure you that those are my "besties" for the week and I want to be "home" with them as much as possible! Let me help take care of your babies! I love playing catch, walking/running, playing with toys, and giving all the belly rubs! Fun, cool, extra treat included with your care: expect plenty of selfies of your pets! I am a Millennial, after all…

Safety, trust & environment

I have extensive experience working & staying in clients homes and place heavy importance on respecting your preferences. While I love on your dogs & cats as if they were my own, I want to be sure that you feel comfortable with me taking care of your babies! The first things I like to ask about are: a) What is __'s daily routine? b) What times are he/she/they fed & what quantity? Any special diet or medications? c) How much time are they used to having with their humans? d) Walks? Daily, every few days, weekends? e) What have you liked/disliked about previous house sitters/dog walkers, if any? f) Would you be comfortable with me staying in your home (if dogsitting)? Or would you prefer that I just check in with them during the day/night with someone else's help? g) Would you feel comfortable with me documenting your dogs/cats during my visits with them? To send you updates? I love a good themed photo shoot!! *Please read the “Pet Care Experience” above. h) Are there any additional things you would like for me to know?

Taryn was great! She took the time to understand what we look for in a sitter and then made sure to communicate- before, during and after her stay. We felt completely safe and secure leaving the country while she took care of our babes and the house. We hope to use her again soon!

We’ve used Rover now a dozen times and never felt less worried than when Taryn was at our house with our pups! She was extremely professional, personable, and just overall wonderful!! We loved the questions she asked and her attention to detail in looking after our fellas. She was able to administer medication for our one dog, gave us plenty of updates (with fun pics), and even kept our house just as we left it somehow! Taryn is absolutely our go-to sitter now and we couldn’t recommend her more!!

Taryn house sat for us a number of times while she was in school here in Albuquerque. She was extremely reliable and my dogs absolutely loved her. One was very old and needed medication and another only had 3 legs so needed to be walked regularly. The third dog was a very small Italian Greyhound that needed lots and lots of lap time under a blanket. Taryn accommodated them all. They were always happy and relaxed when we got home. I highly recommend Taryn as a fabulous pet care giver!

Taryn has a natural rapport with animals and is very responsible in taking care of them. She's worked for a veterinarian hospital and has house sit a number of dogs with lots of medical needs and special medications to take. She loves animals and it shows in the care she provides them. Two thumbs up!

Taryn was an exceptional pet sitter for us from 2012-2016. She started with us (4 dogs, a cat, and four horses) in Corrales, New Mexico in middle school and continued on through her sophomore year of college. While working with us, she went above and beyond to administer several rounds of Chewy multivitamins and pre-packaged food to our canines, set out fresh, wet cat food, and tended to several horses, feeding bales of hay, oil supplementation, and pellets a couple hours before heading out for school, around approximately 6 AM. She would also ensure that the cat’s litter box and horses stalls were scooped and dusted our home prior to our arrival back home. She regularly stayed a whole week while my daughter and I traveled to several annual dressage competitions. Towards the end of our work together, she stayed from April-June to assist with our cross-country move to San Diego. I cannot recommend Taryn enough for taking care of your fur babies! She is excellent with time management and communication. She goes above and beyond to care for your pets.

Definitely their personality and how they feel most comfortable being approached by a stranger (when we first meet!). Otherwise, their favorite treats, toys, and spots around the home (or neighborhood!).
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
