Here is how I can fit into your pet's schedule: Work Days: I am available for early morning or late evening visits. Midday Check-ins: I typically have a lunch break and love to use that time to help out local clients. While my clinical schedule requires a little flexibility for emergencies, I do my best to accommodate midday potty breaks or feedings. Days Off: My schedule is very flexible, allowing for extended playtime, long walks, or specialized habitat maintenance. Because of my hospital rotation, I generally work best with a bit of advanced notice, but I will always do my best to accommodate your needs whenever possible. I look forward to giving your pets the professional, loving care they deserve!

Information Tarah L. would like to know about your pet

To provide the highest level of care—and to ensure your pets feel safe and comfortable—having a few details ahead of time is incredibly helpful. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, I pay close attention to the small things that make a big difference in an animal's well-being. Medical & Dietary Essentials Since I am experienced with clinical care, please let me know about: Current Medications: Specific dosages, administration times, and any "tricks" (like a favorite treat) that make the process stress-free for them. Dietary Restrictions: Any allergies or specific high-protein requirements. I’m happy to follow complex feeding schedules or specialized meal prep. Health History: Any chronic conditions or mobility issues, especially for senior pets who might need a slower pace during walks. Behavior & Comfort Every pet has a unique personality! It helps to know: Temperament: Are they social butterflies, or do they prefer a "slow burn" when meeting someone new? Triggers: Anything that might make them nervous, such as thunderstorms, loud noises, or seeing other animals during a walk. Favorite Routines: Their favorite toys, hiding spots (for the shy cats!), or specific "bedtime" rituals that help them settle in. Specialized & Exotic Care For my reptile and invertebrate clients, precise environment details are key: Habitat Specs: Specific temperature gradients, UVB lighting schedules, and humidity targets. Handling Preferences: Whether they are "display only" or comfortable with being handled for health checks. Feeding Protocols: Details on live feedings or specialized supplementation. Logistics & Safety Emergency Contact: Your preferred local veterinarian and an emergency contact person if you are unreachable. Home Access: Any specific instructions for alarm codes, keys, or "escape artist" tendencies at the front door. I’ve centralized my service area around my workplace to stay as responsive as possible, so knowing these details in advance allows me to jump right in and provide the best care during my visits!

A typical day

Morning & Evening Visits For pets with early or late routines, I focus on high-priority care: Health & Wellness Checks: A quick "nose-to-tail" assessment to ensure your pet is bright, alert, and comfortable. Precision Feeding: Following exact dietary instructions, including specialized high-protein prep or sourdough-based treats if that's part of their ritual. Medication Management: If your pet has a medical regimen, I am fully equipped to handle everything from oral supplements to more complex administration during these windows. Midday Check-ins (The "Lunch Break" Visit) Because I stay centralized near my workplace, I can often drop in for a midday refresh: Potty & Play: A focused break for dogs to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. Feline Enrichment: Refreshing water, scooping litter, and providing some dedicated 1-on-1 attention for cats who prefer mid-day company. Habitat Monitoring: For exotic pets, this is when I double-check UVB lighting, humidity levels, and specialized substrate conditions to ensure their environment remains perfect while you're away. On My Days Off These days are dedicated to "deep dive" care. This is when I can accommodate: Extended Exercise: Longer runs or walks for high-energy dogs. Detailed Maintenance: Thorough habitat cleaning for reptiles or invertebrates and refreshing senior cat spaces. Quality Companionship: Extra time spent just hanging out on the couch or in the yard so your pets never feel lonely. I treat every home visit with the same level of detail I provide to my patients at the hospital—ensuring your pets are safe, happy, and loved until you return

Pet care experience

With my professional background as a Certified Veterinary Technician, I offer a level of care that goes beyond standard pet sitting. My experience spans the entire spectrum of animal companionship—from high-energy dogs and senior cats to specialized exotic species. Whether your pet has feathers, scales, or fur, I bring a clinical eye and a genuine passion for animal welfare to every visit. Expertise Across Species Canine Care: Experienced with all life stages, from providing structured puppy socialization and high-energy exercise to managing the gentle, slow-paced needs of senior dogs. Feline Wellness: Specialized in stress-free handling, maintaining strict environmental routines, and providing the patient, quiet companionship that cats thrive on. Exotic & Specialty Pets: I am highly proficient in the technical care required for reptiles (including chameleons and tortoises) and invertebrates (like tailless whip scorpions). I understand the critical importance of UVB gradients, humidity control, and bioactive substrate management. Medical & Dietary Management: My clinical training means I am fully comfortable administering oral, topical, or injectable medications and following complex, high-protein dietary plans or specialized medical recovery protocols. My Approach to In-Home Care I believe pets are happiest when their routines remain unchanged. During my visits, I focus on: Nose-to-Tail Wellness Checks: Monitoring behavior, appetite, and mobility to catch any subtle health changes early. Environment Maintenance: Ensuring habitats are clean, water is fresh, and your home remains secure. Enrichment: Providing mental and physical stimulation tailored to your pet's specific species and personality. Reliable & Centralized Scheduling I work full-time at a local animal hospital and have centralized my service area nearby to ensure I can be as responsive as possible. Daily Availability: I am available for early morning and late evening visits on my work days. Midday Support: I utilize my lunch breaks for local drop-ins, providing a much-needed break for your pets while I'm between clinical shifts. Full-Day Dedication: On my days off, I have maximum flexibility for deeper habitat cleanings, longer walks, and extended one-on-one time. I treat every pet with the same professional diligence and affection I give my own animals. I look forward to meeting your unique family and providing them with the expert care they deserve!

Tarah is great in her knowledge of pets and always plays with my dog. She also communicates well. She is honest with her day to day work schedule. If you have an animal that needs someone to be around more hours then she might not work out. However our animals are use to long work days so it is fine for our needs.
