I provide care exclusively in my clients’ homes so pets can stay in their familiar environment and routines. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and household guidelines. I’m attentive to safety, keep doors and gates secure, and make sure pets are supervised and comfortable throughout the day. I respect each home as if it were my own and aim to keep the space calm, clean, and well maintained. I communicate clearly with pet parents, provide updates as requested, and reach out promptly if I notice anything out of the ordinary with a pet’s behavior or health.

Tara was such a pleasure to meet when she pet sat for my kitten, Candy in the Fall of 2025. She was my first petsitter contracted through Trusted Housesitters, and I was so impressed! Great communication, very clean and tidy, concientious about Candy's needs (and my desire for a pic or two here and there, lol). Tara was super professional in her interactions with me, and I could also see us becoming great friends if she was my neighbor! I totally recommend working with Tara!
Tara LaShawn is a lovely human being and a wonderful carer of homes and animals. Tara took care of my dog Daisy (80 pound Pittie-mix rescue girl) and Smokey (previously feral rescue cat) for a week. Tara fed them, walked, exercised, played with, and loved my fur babies so well they have adopted her as their second human mom. Tara is honest, trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful. I met her as a pet carer and she quickly became a dear friend.

Hi, I’m Tara — a calm, attentive house sitter with a deep respect for animals, routines, and the homes I care for. I work remotely as a Creative Wellness Guide and Poet, which allows me to be fully present with pets throughout the day while maintaining a steady, flexible schedule. I’m currently based in the Raleigh–Durham area and enjoy caring for pets while exploring familiar neighborhoods or new places at a relaxed pace. I’m naturally observant and patient, and animals tend to respond well to my calm presence. Whether your dog enjoys walks and companionship or your cat prefers quiet consistency, I follow their lead and keep their routines steady. I take pride in maintaining a peaceful home environment, caring for pets thoughtfully, and communicating clearly with pet parents. House and pet sitting allows me to combine my love of animals, nature, and travel with meaningful, responsible care.
