As a graduate student, my schedule is busy but flexible! A typical weekend housesitting for dogs and/or cats will consist of an overnight stay from 8-8 (flexible start/end time) as well as drop-in visits throughout the day where we may go for walks, play inside or outside, and provide food/meds as requested! When housesitting adult dogs/cats I may be away from the house for up to 4-6 hours at a time. For puppies I may be away from the house for up to 2 hours at a time. If adult dogs require more frequent potty breaks then a puppy rate will be applied. At this time I am unable to provide constant care. For drop-in visits I will try to accommodate requested times to the best of my ability, but typically can only guarantee a visit will be within an hour of the requested window (unless medications must be administered). During the week I work away from home so a typical weekday housesitting will require pets be able to spend ~8 hours alone unless you are within 1 mile of UW hospital and I can do a lunchtime drop in!

I adopted my yellow lab, Buck, 8 years ago when he was 1 and completely blind. While learning how to meet his needs was challenging, he has thrived in my care and is my absolute best friend and sidekick! I rescued my cat, Sophie, at 5 weeks old and she has been a handful ever since! As the first cat I have owned, she has taught me so much, and I definitely feel capable handling some of the spiciest of cats now! We recently adopted our basset hound puppy, Betty, and I have been reminded of all the highs and lows of raising a puppy. I am prepared to work with any puppies I watch on their training! I also care for many other scaley creatures, including geckos, frogs, a snake, and tortoise! I am well versed in exotic pet care and am happy to feed your scaley babies (live bugs are no issue!). If I am watching your pets I will treat them with extreme care and follow instructions to a tee as I would hope any pet sitter would do for me! I am privately insured as a pet sitter to ensure I am prepared for any situation that may arise and can provide the absolute best care for your pet(s) 😊

Information Tara N. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your pet has any special needs or routines you want me to follow! Please also let me know how they do with other animals and to what extent you want them to interact with them on walks.

A typical day

I enjoy taking pups for long leisurely strolls where they can enjoy sniffing all the smells and playing with their favorite toys! For kitties we love to play with wand toys and lasers or relax and enjoy some pets!

Tara is a pleasure to work with. Reliable, communicative, flexible, and great with our rescue dachshund who can be slow to warm to new people. I’d heartily recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.

Tara was excellent with our dog while we were away. She was communicative and sent us photos often which we appreciated. Tara was especially great with our dog who is typically quite skittish of new people. We really appreciated her help!

Tara is the absolute best! My kitty loves her and I feel so comfortable leaving him with her to care for him, even with his new medication regiment. So glad we found her in the area.

Tara graciously helped us out at the eleventh hour when another pet sitter fell through. We are so glad we connected with her - she was WONDERFUL! We came back to a super happy and relaxed dog (he clearly really enjoyed the long walk she took him on :-) and we honestly couldn't have asked for better. We don't live in Madison, but if we did, we would 100% try to book with Tara again. Highly recommended!
