Safety, trust & environment
Regardless of someone’s living situation/home setup I have questions and things that I always look for whenever I do a meet and greet which is typically at the owner’s home. Questions about reactivity to people, food, other dogs and other stimulus. I’ll ask questions about separation anxiety history, medications, how they interact with the owner away, what are the best toys to use, etc. It all matters and I strive to provide a care environment that is as similar to owner’s as I can get while they are away so I pay close attention to instructions and build bonds with the animal/s through play and treats! As far as safety goes I don’t hesitate when gentle firmness is required whether it be on walks or during play in the house/yard. Everyone can be rambunctious but we can also be safe!
Information Tara M. would like to know about your pet
I would want to know if your dog is very reactive to people or other animals in advance if possible to avoid any surprises on walks!
A typical day
I enjoy taking my time to get to know a dog and what they enjoy, what their thresholds are. Some dogs enjoy the dog park and some dogs would rather be at home/in the backyard playing. With my dogs, they are both not keen on dog park areas so we typically take our longer walks on places like nearby hiking trails and lakes. I see playtime as a vital part of a bonding experience with an animal so I love play!

Reliable hard work and flexibility
Pet care experience
I have been around cats and dogs my entire life. We always had at least 2 cats in my household growing up and they were all either rescues or strays. Our neighbor for the first 15 years of my life was a dog trainer and I learned and trained alongside hundreds of dogs. I LOVE all animals, doggies just have a special place with me. I currently own 2 rescue dogs and am working with the newest one on desensitization training. I want to provide a sense of relief to my clients when they are away and out of town because it’s one of my biggest concerns when I’m away to know that my babies are doing well! Been working for the state for 4 years now and I also volunteer at the Wake Co. SPCA when I have time. I have pet sat countless times in my past and think Rover will be a great fit for me part time. I hope to meet you and your family soon and thank you for your consideration. :)
Reviews

Tara is great with my three dogs. She always leaves detailed reports and is happy to accommodate day to day changes. I frequently recommend her to friends!

Tara was very kind and communicative

Tara is great. Chandler gets sad when Mom is away, but Tara was super patient with him.

Tara is the best!!! I recommend her 100%.
