Understanding a pet’s personality is very helpful, such as their energy level, comfort with new people, other animals, or any known triggers or behaviors. For dogs, leash manners and walk preferences are important. For cats, I like to know how social or independent they are and what helps them feel comfortable. I also ask for vet information, emergency contacts, and any household instructions that will help me provide safe, consistent, and stress free care.

A typical day is centered around the pet’s normal routine and comfort. I start by making sure all basic needs are met, including feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, and any medications. From there, I focus on activities that match each pet’s age, energy level, and personality. For dogs, this usually includes walks, playtime, and enrichment such as light training, games, or supervised outdoor time. I enjoy adjusting activities for each dog, whether that means a relaxed walk and extra cuddles for senior dogs or more active play for higher energy pups. For cats, I spend time playing with toys, providing companionship, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable in their space. I also understand that some cats prefer quiet time, and I respect their boundaries while still checking in on them and giving attention. Throughout the day, I make time for affection, calm interaction, and observation to ensure pets are happy and doing well. I have over 15 years of hands on experience caring for dogs, including my own as well as dogs for friends, family, and clients. I have primarily worked with small to medium sized dogs, but I also have experience caring for larger breeds. I have cared for dogs of all ages, from young puppies to senior dogs, including my own dog who lived to be 17. I am especially comfortable caring for senior dogs. I have experience administering medications as needed, and I understand how important patience, consistency, and routine are for older dogs. I am very reliable when it comes to following schedules for meals, walks, medications, and daily care. Communication is very important to me, and I know how reassuring updates can be for pet parents. I am happy to send regular messages and photos during visits or stays if you would like, so you can feel confident and at ease while you are away.
