I want to start by acknowledging that caring for two dogs—especially dogs with special needs—can be challenging. We also had some last-minute adjustments to our schedule with different drop-off and pick-up times, which I understand could have added complexity to this stay, but all of these things while complex, were communicated as in advance with acknowledgement. However, overall I did not feel that our dogs were cared for as closely as needed. A few areas that were concerning: First, drop-off and pick-up times were late or delayed, even though there had been prior communication about the schedule. Second, several instructions for our dogs were not followed. We had provided detailed guidance both through messages and within our dogs’ profiles, but multiple instructions—particularly around feeding—were not followed as outlined. When we tried to provide clarification and additional feedback, it did not feel like there was much effort to fully understand the instructions, and there were not many follow-up questions asked to prevent mistakes. I.e., a dog bowl digestive issues to be labeled a chair Another concern was communication. When we asked for photos or updates, we sometimes felt dismissed. For example, we received responses such as “your dogs are safe and fine,” but later noticed that one of our dogs had a small cut on her nose. I’m not saying the sitter caused it, but more proactive updates and photos would have helped alleviate our concerns. Overall, we are grateful that someone was able to watch our pups, but given our experience, I don’t think we would feel as comfortable having her care for both dogs again, especially dogs with special needs.
