Mark and I both work from home, so someone is nearly always home. We have an unfenced yard, but usually take dogs on 3-4 walks per day around the city or down by riverfront park. Our teens are involved in dog care when appropriate.

In order to support your dog in the most caring way possible, we like to always have a ten to thirty-minute meet and greet in our home before their stay, unless there are special circumstances that won’t allow for this (coming in from out of town; same-day last minute request). This short visit reassures your dog that our home is safe for them, and helps them trust that they will get to go home to you at the end of their stay, making their first stay with us more comfortable and relaxed. We use gates and doors as needed for any separation of space, however also allow dogs to share space together once they have met and get along. Dogs will usually eat separately just to make them more comfortable and ensure their safety. They’re rarely crated - and are usually allowed on couches. We are comfortable with dogs who need space from other dogs on their walks. It’s usually easy to accommodate. If your dog has a harness, please bring it with you and a non-extendible five or six foot leash. Harnesses are required for dogs over 30 lbs. This is non-negotiable for our safety as well as theirs. If your dog has a bed, please also bring their bed or crate with them to make nighttime safer and more comfortable for your pet. A new environment can be unsettling at night, and however easily your dog sleeps at home, they will like some comforts from home when they are with us.

2025 Update: at this time we are unable to care for pets who eat a raw food diet due to the risk of H5N1 contamination. Thank you for your understanding. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines including rabies, bordetella (kennel cough), and distemper/parvo. Please let us know in advance if your dog has any special needs or requirements for your dog’s comfort and for our household as well. This might include health or personality specifics, or even whether we should be extra mindful to keep them away from children and other dogs on our walks (this is our norm, but we prefer to know in advance if this is essential for your dog!).

We enjoy playing ball and teaching and reinforcing new tricks and basic manners with positive reinforcement. We practice safe walking and leash handling in the downtown environment - and can run around in our backyard too. We use small training treats, and love to treat dogs with their favorite treats or toys (so please pack or let us know their favorites, and any food restrictions or allergies).

Our whole family loves dogs
Expérience en matière de services dédiés aux animaux de compagnie
Nine years ago, our family was adopted/rescued by a senior mini poodle when his person had to go in a nursing home… since then, life has never been the same. While Sammy is no longer with us, we now open our home to dog sitting as often as possible. Our two quiet mellow teenagers are highly trusted by the most nervous of dogs, and we all love the bonus dog time. Our four-legged friends make our days meaningful and we love the extra walks. Each dog that has been entrusted into our care brings a new surprise.
Avis

Karabash had a great time as always. I am very happy she can stay with a family that she knows and loves.

This was Oliver’s first extended stay following a great trial overnight. It is hard to express how great it was for him, and, by extension, for us. Sylva and Mark made him feel right at home, and judging by the pictures, he took full advantage of this. Aside from our own house, we couldn’t have imagined how comfortable he looked, and how Sylva and Mark treated him as one of their own. Super couple who provide a welcoming environment for their furry guests! Thank you! Michael and Vivian B

Sylva and Mark are some of the most kind and genuine people. We were very fortunate to have been able to leave our sweet girl with them for almost a week. She was very well cared for and loved on. We got pictures everyday which we loved. It was a huge relief to go on a trip and know that our dog was in good hands. Couldn’t recommend them enough. Thanks again!!
Could not be more grateful for Sylva and Marc and their wonderful family. My dog is nervous in new situations and they were so patient and gentle with her, and she warmed up so quickly with them. It was a huge weight lifted while I was away!
