I'm a recent graduate from the University of Iowa and am continuing to live in the city for the next few months to work on my professional career and prepare for a future big move. While I have a 9-5 during the week, I'm happy to do any evening pet sitting Mon-Thur or daytime pet sitting on Fridays. Additionally, I am fairly open on weekends!

I make sure they are comfortable with me first so that I do not spook them before I go through tasks such as feeding, refilling water, cleaning litterboxes/puppy pads, etc. to let the animals get used to me being in their space before I interact with them physically (playtime, bellyrubs, brushing/washing) I usually chat a bit while doing this as in my experience, I find speaking softly and gently often calms the animals and gets them to be more comfortable around new people. Afterwards, I transition to playing with them, taking them on walks, giving them a little TLC, and make sure any active animals get the exercise and interaction they need throughout the day/time that I spend with them. Finally, I make sure everything is clean, in place, and the animals are comfortable before I finish up!
Information Sydney J. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any medications or special needs ahead of time. Additionally, if there are any actions or behaviours that make them nervous, if they are aggressive/friendly towards other dogs, or if there are any trigger spots where they do not enjoy being pet/touched.
A typical day
I love to play fetch or backyard/park games with your dogs! Giving them some exercise and someone to run around with to let them has as much fun as possible! With lower energy dogs, I love to play with any of their favourite indoor toys, belly rubs, and trick training they want.

Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for a number of years in a number of different households and situations! I ran my own private organization of child and pet care with a network 30+ families. Walking, playing, and TLC are a must when I care for dogs (and cats if they like it!), and I make sure that the animals are healthy and well cared for at all times. I've volunteered at SPCAs and animal shelters for a number of years and get a lot of joy out of being around and caring for pets and animals of any kind!

Sydney was a pleasure to work with. She was clearly invested in learning the particulars of caring for my dog. She also left the house in excellent order. I will definitely book her again!
Sydney was amazing with our two senior pets. She was attentive to them, communicated well with us, gave medications and supplements with no issues and left the house very clean. We’d use her again in a heartbeat!
Sydney is a responsible and caring pet caregiver. She has cared for Dogs, cats, hamsters and guinea pigs and is always gentle and caring, even when redirection is needed. She loves to go out on walks or engage in as much play as possible to keep her animals healthy. Syd finds a lot of comfort in furry snuggles and is always early for appointments, neat and respectful of other's spaces. I would highly recommend her as a pet sitter.
Sydney is a caring, hard working and dependable person. She recently graduated from the University of Iowa with Honors and Distinction. She completed her 4 year degree in 3.5 years. She is motivated and loves animals. Growing up, she had a dog named Chachi and a hamster that she would care for. She has an exceptional soft spot for dogs (especially the big ones). She was also a babysitter during her high school years and was in high demand. The families that used her for babysitting also would hire her to pet sit for them when out of town. I can't think of any better recommendation that other families choosing Sydney to watch over their children and pets while away from home.
