Availability

Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. I’m currently a graduate student at the Colorado School of Mines completing my coursework online, and I’m based in Fort Collins. This gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to plan my day around pet care needs. At home, I have a young dog and a very young puppy, so I’m already on a structured routine that includes regular feeding 3 times a day, potty breaks, training, and enrichment. Because of this, I’m reliably home at least 3 time periods a day and all night. I’m available for pet care up to three times per day for sessions lasting up to four hours each, which works well for walks, drop-ins, playtime, training reinforcement, and meals or medications times. I’m dependable, punctual, and attentive to maintaining each pet’s normal routine.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust are my top priorities in every home I care for. Whether I’m caring for pets in my client’s home or my own, I take the time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, and any medical or behavioral needs before care begins. I have extensive experience with young puppies, including potty training, crate training, supervision, and enforcing safe boundaries. I’m especially vigilant with pets who are known to swallow foreign objects, and I practice constant supervision, environmental checks, and proactive management to prevent accidents as I have had 2 dogs with issues eating non-edible objects. I’m also very comfortable caring for dogs recovering from surgery or illness. With my vet tech training and medical foster experience, I can confidently administer medications, monitor incision sites, restrict activity as needed, and watch closely for any signs of discomfort or complications. I follow all veterinary and owner instructions carefully and provide detailed daily updates. In clients’ homes, I respect the space as if it were my own maintaining cleanliness, following household rules, and ensuring pets feel secure and relaxed in their familiar environment. In my own home, I prioritize controlled introductions, safe separation when needed, and structured routines to ensure every pet’s safety and comfort. I use positive reinforcement, clear communication, and attentive supervision to build trust with both pets and owners, providing calm, reliable, and knowledgeable care at all times.

Information Sydney I. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for a dog, I believe it’s essential to understand both their behavioral needs and safety considerations so I can provide the best possible care. From my extensive experience working with dogs with a wide range of personalities and behavioral challenges, I like to gather the following information in advance: -Any sensitive areas where your dog does not like to be touched (such as paws, ears, collar area, or hips) -Whether there is any history of resource guarding (food, toys, treats, space, or people) -If there are activities that should be handled separately, such as walks, feeding, treats, training, or enrichment -Whether your dog chews or consumes unsafe items, counter-surfs, or gets into things opportunistically -If your dog is an escape artist or has specific containment needs -Key parts of your dog’s daily routine that help them feel secure and comfortable -How your dog prefers to receive attention or redirection (verbal cue, treats, whistle, physical guidance, etc.) -How your dog does with strangers entering the home when you are not present(such as myself) For medical safety, I also ask about: -Any pre-existing medical conditions, medications, or mobility restrictions -Your preferred 24/7 emergency veterinary clinic -Whether you keep activated charcoal at home, and your preference on vet-administered vs. owner-approved administration in the event of toxic or inedible ingestion (I carry activated charcoal and will always follow owner and veterinary guidance) Having this information ahead of time allows me to proactively manage risks, respect boundaries, and keep your pet safe, comfortable, and stress-free while you’re away.

A typical day

My typical day is highly structured, consistent, and predictable, which allows me to provide calm, safe, and enriching care for every dog I work with. I currently have a young dog and a working-breed puppy, so my daily routine is built around intentional training, individual attention, and thoughtful enrichment. Each morning begins with individual walks and short training sessions tailored to each dog, followed by breakfast. I prioritize low-stress routes such as parks, green spaces, and quieter areas, and I avoid main roads and close, uncontrolled interactions with unfamiliar dogs. I carefully read each dog’s body language and adjust activities based on their comfort level, energy, and owner preferences. Midday includes training and feeding for my puppy, along with enrichment activities and mental stimulation for my older dog. In the evening, I repeat individual walks, training, and meals to maintain consistency and prevent overstimulation. At night, dogs are settled into their crates with a calming enrichment activity, followed by a rewarded potty break after 3–4 hours crated On weekends, I intentionally expose my dogs to new environments to practice calm settling in higher-stimulation settings, and we attend weekly training classes to continue skill-building and socialization. This structured approach allows me to meet each dog’s physical and mental needs while maintaining safety, predictability, and positive experiences whether that looks like walks, play, training reinforcement, or quiet companionship. I am well prepared and ready to do the same with any dog in my care to make sure their time with me is as fun, exciting, and as low stress as possible while thier family is away. My parent is also stay at home, so there are multiple people at home 24/7 providing full-time care and TLC for all the pups

I make animals my top priority

Pet care experience

I bring 13 years of hands-on pet care experience and a lifelong passion for animal welfare. I’ve cared for a wide range of animals including dogs, cats, exotic pets, and farm animals, and I’m confident handling pets with varying temperaments, ages, and medical needs. My professional background includes working at a Pet Hotel and Resort, where I supervised playgroups and provided overnight care for both dogs and cats. I’ve also completed one year of Vet Tech training, giving me a strong foundation in animal health, behavior, and medication administration. I’ve volunteered for years with organizations such as NoCo Humane Society and Animal Friends Alliance, where I worked as a walker, enrichment volunteer, and trainer. I frequently took dogs on structured day trips to support confidence-building and behavioral enrichment. Additionally, I served as a long-term medical foster for Pima Animal Care Center, caring for pets with ongoing medical or special needs. Beyond shelters, I’ve been a horse handler through TRAK, a therapeutic ranch for children with disabilities, where I also helped care for other farm animals. I’ve consistently managed pet sitting for multiple households at once, safely and reliably caring for several dogs and cats at the same time over many years. My own dogs have been certified and/or are currently training for Canine Good Citizen (CGC), therapy, trick, and agility certifications, reflecting my commitment to positive, structured training and enrichment. I pride myself on providing reliable, compassionate, and knowledgeable care, treating every pet as if they were my own while ensuring owners feel confident and at ease eith frequent daily updates.

I highly recommend Sydney to watch your furbabies! Sydney was very communicative and accommodating when I was in need of someone to watch Marley at the very last minute. I would be more than happy to have Sydney watch Marley again in the future!

Sydney was great! Was very responsive to questions and about her schedule. Our dog warmed up to her quickly and was tired out when we got home.
