Pet care experience

🐾 Uncle Syd’s Pet Care! 🐾

I am a Licensed Social Worker and Pet Caregiver! Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with pets of all kinds, ranging from tiny babies that aren’t yet a pound, to big ole babies who are over 100 pounds. Whether it’s a highly trained pet with specific routines, a semi-feral rescue in need of gentle handling and reassurance, or a pet with special health considerations in need of accommodations, I have the experience, passion, and patience to meet each client where they are. In fact getting to know the unique communication styles of each clients is one of my favorite parts of this work! — — — For pet parents, it can be stressful leaving your little ones in someone else's care! This is why I prioritize open communication and transparency throughout the whole process. I am always happy to set up a meet and greet prior to the care window! I offer complementary virtual meet and greets and in person meet and greets at my drop in rates. While I am caring for clients, their parents receive regular updates about how their little ones are doing. The other thing my clients’ families can expect are an abundance of photos! This just so happens to be my other favorite part of this work. — — — Overall, I am someone who believes everyone - pets and humans - are doing their best. So if you are looking for a kind and understanding experience for you and your little ones, know that’s exactly what you can expect with Uncle Syd’s Pet Care! — — — 🐾 Get to know Uncle Syd: •This is a Queer & Trans-Owned Business and I proudly work with families of all kinds! •My social work experience heavily influences and inspires the work I do with pets and their humans today! 🐾

House Sitting • Feb 04, 2026

Uncle Syd is the absolute best! He took such good care of Graham, Fritz, and our house - even during a huge snow storm. He communicated daily, sending photos of my boys and asking great questions. I appreciated his fast responses to my questions too. I will definitely be asking him to come back for future trips! Not everyone can win over Fritz, and Syd did!

Dog Walking • Jan 14, 2026

Syd was so great with Fritz! Fritz requires some patience and calm from everyone he meets because he is such a nervous boy. Syd had all of it and then some. He knew all the tricks, like offering cheerios and how to communicate with dog body language. Fritz was so nervous to leave with them, they went on a quick 30 minute wal, and then Fritz came home with his celebratory zoomies! I am so excited to have Syd pet sit for us next week while we are on vacation.

Doggy Day Care • Dec 28, 2025

Syd went above and beyond giving Walter an incredible night, we would book again in a heartbeat. He was super accommodating to Walter’s needs (separation anxiety), and walked him thru the Zoo lights. One of the best rovers we’ve ever booked!

Safety, trust & environment

In my home, all pets are treated like family. They are greeted with love and care in the mornings and are given loads of attention and enrichment during the days! . . When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their environment and routines. I make sure to follow all instructions closely, whether it’s feeding schedules, exercise routines, or special care needs. I understand that pets can be more comfortable in their own space, so I aim to maintain their usual routine as much as possible to reduce any stress. I keep the home tidy, being sure to leave your place looking nice enough to make you wonder if I even stayed there (don’t worry, I did). My goal is setting you up to just enjoy reuniting with your pet, rather than the bummer of returning to a mess! . . Regardless of the location, I also provide regular updates to the parents, so they know their pet is in good hands. My goal is to make the whole experience seamless and worry-free for both the pet and their families.

A typical day

I base my schedule around the care instructions for each client. Generally however, a typical day with me starts with breakfast followed by a refreshing morning walk. Weather permitting, we’ll enjoy some playtime in a nearby park where I can bring their favorite interactive toys you packed for them while being fully engaged in playing together. In the afternoon, after a bit of rest, we will play with some toys around the house and just enjoy each other’s company. Evenings are reserved for a relaxing walk, followed by some quality cuddle time before bed. I will be available to take pets out as often as their parents instruct. I also provide additional care such as administering medications or following special dietary needs as required.

Let me know if your pet(s) have any special conditions or preferences that I should familiarize myself with or prepare for ahead of time! Some examples of accommodations that I have facilitated for other clients are: Blinds kept closed (for anxious friends), Music or television playing anytime they're home alone (for friends with separation difficulties), Access to windows (for friends that like to people watch)!
