Pet care experience

25 yrs professional home boarding.

With over 20 years of professional experience caring for dogs, I provide full-time boarding in my cozy log home in a beautiful setting. I’ve been boarding dogs seven days a week since 2004 and have worked with animals my entire life. In addition to caring for dogs, I also own two horses, five goats, and three barn cats, all kept at my nearby farm just a few miles from home. I specialize in Golden Retrievers. I grew up with them, have three of my own, and the majority of my boarding guests are Goldens and Labs. Sweet, happy, well-socialized dogs are always welcome here. To maintain the best group dynamic and play environment, I primarily board medium and large breeds with compatible temperaments and play styles. My focus is on creating a safe, respectful, and low-stress environment where dogs can thrive socially and emotionally. Visiting pups enjoy active, personalized, nurturing, and professional care. With plenty of supervised playtime, affection, and attention, it truly becomes a retreat for dogs — like summer camp for pups. All boarding dogs are expected to be well socialized and comfortable around other dogs. I have extensive experience caring for dogs of all ages, energy levels, and personalities, including puppies, seniors, and dogs with special needs. Every dog is treated like a member of the family, and my clients travel with peace of mind knowing their pup is safe, happy, and having a vacation of their own. My goal is for every dog to go home relaxed, well cared for, and stress-free. I also have excellent references, decades of hands-on experience, and first-aid training.

Suzy was amazing and took great care of my baby! We had such a wonderful experience! Eugene stayed over the 4th of July weekend, and I couldn't have asked for a better sitter. She made sure he got his ear medication every day, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was obvious she genuinely cared about him, and I felt completely confident that he was safe, happy, and well taken care of. He had the best time playing outside and came home tired in the best way. I would absolutely trust her with Eugene again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter!

Our pup had SUCH a good time with Suzy and her fur friends, Butters and others staying for a play. She was so happy and didn’t want to leave, lol. Can’t get a better review than that! Appreciate Suzy’s updates, and care of our girl for the long trip out of the country. Will absolutely will use her again. Thanks, Suzy!!

Suzy and her golden crew are the absolute best! She sent me updates with videos and pics throughout my golden’s entire stay. Pippi loves her new best friends and we have already booked another stay!

Schedule

I have been boarding dogs full time for over 20 years. Our daily routine begins around 6:00 a.m. with breakfast and ends around 9:30 p.m. with a final potty break before bedtime. Throughout the day, dogs enjoy unlimited supervised playtime balanced with plenty of opportunities to rest and relax. I firmly believe that peaceful nap time and downtime are just as important as active social play in creating a healthy, balanced, and low-stress boarding experience. My goal is for every dog to feel safe, comfortable, well cared for, and truly at home during their stay.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a large fenced yard with two paddocks and secure gates to ensure a safe environment for all dogs in my care. All outdoor playtime is fully supervised — whenever the dogs are outside, I am outside with them. Inside, pups enjoy all the comforts of home, including plenty of dog beds, cozy spaces, and comfortable furniture for relaxing and resting between play sessions. For safety and restful sleep, all dogs are crated overnight in spacious XXL crates. I provide comfortable bedding for each crate, and owners are always welcome to send a favorite blanket or item from home to help their pup feel extra cozy and settled during their stay.

Pets

A typical day

My home is a place where dogs can truly be dogs. I encourage every pup to relax, play, and enjoy themselves based on their individual personality and activity level. Some of my boarding guests are young, energetic, and full of zoomies — they love to run, wrestle, play chase, and play ball. Others are happiest soaking up the sunshine, lounging comfortably, and enjoying extra affection, belly rubs, and a peaceful atmosphere. Because I’ve been doing this for so many years, I know my boarding dogs almost as well as my own. I’m very intentional about grouping dogs with compatible temperaments and play styles so everyone feels comfortable, safe, and included. My two young female Golden Retrievers love being outside with playful, active groups who enjoy wrestling, running, and carrying sticks around the yard together. My older male is much more of a laid-back “let’s lounge and enjoy the day” kind of guy. No matter their personality or energy level, my goal is for every boarding dog to have companionship, comfort, and like-minded canine friends to enjoy their stay with.

All dogs must be well socialized and temperament tested prior to boarding. To ensure the best fit and a safe, positive environment for everyone, I schedule a brief meet-and-greet with each owner and their pup before booking. My 6-year-old Golden Retriever, Butter, joins me for every meet-and-greet. It’s the highlight of his day, and his favorite part of his “job” is showing new friends around and helping visiting pups feel welcome, comfortable, and secure. He’s an old soul with a wonderfully gentle temperament and is fantastic with dogs of all ages, from playful puppies to seniors. My clients lovingly refer to him as “Uncle Butter.” During the meet-and-greet, your pup will have time to explore the yard and home while we go over important details such as feeding schedules, medications, routines, drop-off and pick-up times, and any special needs or preferences your dog may have.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
