I work from home part time, so I’m super flexible in terms of times and days of the week. Plus, I’m just getting started on Rover, so I’m not booked up!

When I come to your home, I respect your home and your procedures. I really appreciate clear instructions. (My cat likes to run through any open doors, so I am very alert to any particular instructions you give!) I also follow general safety protocols. For example, I only give your pet any food or treats you approve - if any. When I walk your dog, I keep them away from other dogs. When I board your dog, they are the only dog here. I have a fenced yard, but I never leave your dog alone in the yard.

Information Susan Y. would like to know about your pet
Lots of animals thrive on a predictable schedule, so I love to know what your pet's schedule is. What are their favorite toys or games? Do they expect a treat at a particular time of day? It also helps to know if there's anything that is particularly difficult for your pet. Is your dog afraid of thunder or fireworks? Do they hate the rain? Does your cat hide in a particular place (so I can check to be sure they are okay, not to make them come out!)
A typical day
I like to meet your pet where they are and see what they most enjoy. Does your dog love to play fetch after a walk? Or is a walk plenty of exercise? Does your cat want to play before they eat? If I'm boarding your dog, I will also ask about where they like to sleep and what makes them most comfortable.

Pet care experience
I’ve been an animal lover all my life. I foster for my local animal shelter and I pet sit for friends and family. Now that I work from home, I’m free to visit your dog or cat or welcome your dog to my home for boarding. I follow your instructions to the “T” and treat your pet like family. I inherited my love of animals from my mom. I grew up with a collie and got to know cats at my best friend’s house. As an adult, I’ve had a dog, a cat, or both: I adopted my 11-year-old cat, Simon, from the shelter. He’s great with dogs so long as they’re okay with him. I’d love to give your pet the care they need so you can have peace of mind when you’re not home.

Reviews
Susan is wonderful with our dog. Our pup absolutely loves going to her house! Susan gives so much comfort and care, and always sends great photos showing just how happy our dog is. The real proof? Our dog comes home just as happy as when she left. Susan’s love and attention make it so easy for us to feel at peace while we’re away. We trust her completely and will continue to book with her. ❤️
Susan is amazing with animals!!! She currently has a cat, and has previously owned multiple dogs. She regularly watches my fiancée and my dog when we go out of town. She has also fostered many dogs, and volunteers at events in Oak Park. She is so compassionate, and our dog absolutely loves staying with her.
Susan has always been a wonderful caretaker for my dog! She’s had animals in her life continuously and looks after all animals as if they were her own. I can’t say enough about how kind and professional Susan is — I would recommend her to everyone!
