Empathetic Critter Care

I grew up with cats, and have always had them around. I think cats are every bit as complex a critter to know and appreciate as dogs are. I got my first dog 11 years ago- he is about 50% Heeler, and the love of my life. I have found consistency and kindness go a long way in happy pets.

I have known Susan for over 5 years and have been fortunate to know her lovely furry family members. Susan is an experienced, loving, attentive, and caring pet owner. With years of experience caring for her own three pets (one dog and two cats), she comes with the knowledge and know-how for caring for furry family members whether dog or cat. Currently she cares for one cat who has special medical needs and has followed all feeding and medication instructions precisely. This attention to detail, has allowed this wonderful feline to have a happy and healthy life. She will take excellent care of your furry family members!

I've known Susan for several years now and from the first day it was blatantly obvious how she feels about her animals. She is always so excited to talk about her little menagerie. Whether it's how smart her dog Bronn is, how loving her cat Oberyn is or how silly her cat Nymeria can be, she's always got nothing but smiles and praise for her furry little babies. It wasn't until we both started taking our dogs to the Dog Park on a regular basis that I personally saw just how deep her connection to her animals truly is. Bronn is half Australian Cattle Dog, as Susan will VERY excitedly tell you, and has all the energy, intelligence and personality you might expect from the breed. Bronn is also Susan's first dog. A dog that was originally returned to the shelter by the family that originally adopted him for being "untrainable". You would believe neither of the previous statements were you to actually meet Bronn. Bronn has been taught dozens of tricks, most of which he will do without treats, has beyond excellent recall when off leash and has been taught to communicate his wants and needs better than some people I know. You would be forgiven for mistaking Susan for a professional dog trainer after meeting Bronn. He is currently 11 years young....and is learning shapes. He knows 4 shapes confidently and is at this time deciding if Hexagons are worth his time. However, while Susan has shown exemplary dedication to the training of Bronn this pales in comparison to the absolute and uncompromising love and dedication she shows to all her her animal's wellbeing. At this time, Oberyn, the Tiny Baby, had a harrowing January in which he was found to be in heart failure. His specific condition has a usual life expectancy of ~6 months. I'm writing this at the end of August. In her Vets paraphrased words, due to Susan's absolute dedication and meticulous caretaking, Oberyn has shown little-to-no decline and is doing fantastic. Oberyn could not be receiving higher quality care, period. Tldr: You would not be able to find a more caring, dedicated and loving pet caretaker than Susan Woodbury.

As long as I've known Susan, she has been an animal-lover. Whether it's taking her dog on a W-A-L-K or making sure her cat gets his pills on time, her care and consistency improves her pets' lives. Susan has never met an animal she didn't love and who didn't love her right back. She is thoughtful, considerate, and kind person who takes her responsibility to the animals in her life seriously. This consistent compassion and this sense of responsibility are what makes me so sure she's a great fit for Rover and for you. I hope you'll let Susan care for your pet. They're going to be in great hands!

I've known Susan for years, and I can say without hesitation that her love for animals isn't something she performs, it's something you feel the moment you're in a room with her and her pets. Her dog Bronn is one of the most emotionally connected animals I've ever met. He knows his shapes, he shows off his intelligence, and the moment Susan asks for cuddles, he's there. That kind of bond doesn't happen by accident. It's the result of years of attention, patience, and genuine emotional attunement from his person. Her cat Obi is currently being treated for heart failure, and watching Susan care for him has been humbling. She tracks his breathing rate, manages complex medications, monitors his kidney levels, and somehow, every time I meet him, he is calm and clearly loved. As someone who co-owns a cat café (The Kitty Beautiful in downtown Orlando) and has been around over a thousand cats, I can tell you: that kind of peace in a medically fragile animal reflects the quality of care he's receiving. Susan's tenderness is stronger than his anxiety. What makes her perfect for Rover is that this isn't reserved for her own animals. When Susan visits our cat café, she shows the same love, attention, and compassion for cats she has just met as she does for the ones she has cherished for years. Strange animals aren't strangers to her for long. You don't have to take my word for it. Spend five minutes with Susan and her animals and you'll see it yourself. She is the kind of person who treats every creature in her care like family. Because to her, they are.
