Availability

When I first started with Rover, I was a full time, virtual worker, so I was at home a lot. I have since joined my husband in retirement and while we spend time each week in volunteer work, we do find ourselves at home a good deal of time. When we are out, it is usually a couple days a week and we are usually home in the early afternoon. We don't travel much so could be available on shorter notice.

Safety, trust & environment

I will only be accepting one boarder at a time, and don't have any pets of our own for the time being- so each visitor will have my full care. No worries about incompatibility or illness. I am very safety conscious and will care for your pet as if it were my own. I am interested in keeping active, and having a pet to look after will be a great encouragement to get out and walk. We are located close to the Trans-Canada, so if you are travelling through New Brunswick you can make a convenient drop off as you pass by.

Information Susan S. would like to know about your pet

A very high energy dog that needs constant supervision or stimulation would be happier in a facility that has a fenced play area and probably other dogs to play with. I jhave a yard but it is not fenced in. When I host, I need to be fairly sure he/she is content to wait patiently till our next outing. Because we are in town, they must be ok walking on leash. We may occasionally meet up with other dogs and walkers. Its not super busy round here but it is good to be aware if there are any issues with reactivity or aggression? Are there any health concerns that I need to be aware of?

A typical day

I am not a couch potato, but neither am I an elite athlete. If you choose me to look after your pet, I cannot offer hour long runs or flyball in the park everyday. What I can do, is get out with your dog throughout the day, as my schedule allows. We have a lovely walking trail steps from our door. Probably some goofy voices, back scratches, belly rubs. When we had our own dogs, they were cuddlebugs. They just loved cozying up next to us on the couch at the end of the day, just chilling. We really enjoyed those times - to just relax and 'be' together. We were never able to say no to pleading puppy eyes - and we usually found ourselves a little cramped at bed time- fortunately, these days, we have a king.

Pet care experience

When our children were little, we moved to the country and fulfilled a promise to them to have dogs. To learn more about them and to be a better pet mum, I got certified as a groomer, and ran a grooming and boarding business for a number of years. I learned a lot about dog behavior and really enjoyed working with many different breeds.

Susan took care of my "spirited" standard poodle for a full week and it went so well! I was nervous because my dog has some quirks, but Susan and I discussed them all at our meet-and-greet. Doggie got lots of walks and love. Photo updates were appreciated. Highly recommend Susan.

Susan was excellent. She took my pup for walks daily and sent me photo updates throughout her stay. She was very prompt at responding to inquiries. Will definitely use her again.

As soon as I left my dog with her I knew she was in good hands! Very reliable and trustworthy, kept me updated on hali and sent pictures of their activities. Would definitely book again!
