Safety, trust & environment

When I get to a client's home, I always check on the pets, look for any issues in the home, then start working through whatever you need done. I end the visit with another check of the home before I leave to make sure everything is left how the owner requested. I'm happy to work on any training you're doing with your dog or cat while you're gone, just let me know. If I see any messes made by your pets, I'll clean them up, unless you request otherwise, and let you know immediately by message if I see any hazards or other issues. I always try to do what I would like a sitter to do if they were in my house! I have Fi collars on my dogs, so if your pet also has a Fi, I am more than happy to add them as the dog walker so you can see our walks and let me access their location if they escape.

Information Susan S. would like to know about your pet

I need to know about any human, dog, cat, reactivity or aggression issues, issues with noises (such as sensitivity to thunderstorms), training that's already been done, health or behavioral problems, common hiding spots for cats, where to find food and anything that gets mixed in (toppers, meds, etc.), and any ongoing potential issues of any kind that I need to watch out for. For your home, let me know if you need any lights or the TV left on, if doors to access the potty yard need to be opened or shut, where to find cleaning supplies, and how to access your house (including where to leave keys at the end of the visit).

A typical day

I like to know what makes your pet happy and keeps them entertained. Is there a favorite toy, or favorite walking route? I also don't mind bringing my own dog and cat toys or treat puzzles with me for something new for your pet to enjoy. I will always be the one down on the ground to get loved on or love on your pets.

Pet care experience

I love being around all animals and helping owners bring the best out of their furry and scaly family members. I am happy to help work on problem behaviors or teach fun tricks. I have worked with and love all sized dogs, especially the gentle (or rowdy!) giants, and have a herd of rescue cats of all ages at home. I have a degree in zoology and years of professional experience in the field. l currently have two dogs and a herd of rescue cats, and have had mutiple reptiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, and a ferret in the past. I have extensive professional experience with caring for all of the reptile orders, amphibians, and raptors, so watching over your exotics is not an issue! I have titled my mixed breed dogs in AKC competition obedience, rally obedience, agility, and tricks and teach obedience and dog sport classes at our local AKC training club.

I will NEVER have another sitter other than Susan! She is an incredible person who took care of our MeowMeow as if he was her own. She sent lots of videos and pictures so I always knew what was going on. She is so personable and just an all around amazing choice.
