I have a fenced-in backyard but will never leave dogs unattended outside. I understand that some dogs can be incredible escape artists, so in this case, it's important for clients to let me know. I will be extra cautious and maybe keep them on a leash while in the backyard. Our guests will have frequent potty breaks/play sessions in the backyard along with several walks in the neighborhood (if they'd like). Let me know what they prefer as far as length/frequency/time of walk, and I'll try my best to accommodate. Our dog, Frank goes on 3 walks a day, anywhere from 20-40 minutes each time, weather permitting. He wears socks when the sidewalks are icy and have extra pairs if your dog tolerates them. I can also put a cooling collar on your dog in hot weather. Please bring jackets or raincoats if they own any! Animals under my care (my partner, Jason also helps out by going on walks with us sometimes, and giving pets/cuddles and playing with them) our guests will receive lots of love and attention. Those who tend to be on the anxious side will receive constant reassurance. Although we have plenty of beds, toys, and bowls here, you're welcome to bring any toys, beds, crates, treats, food, water &food bowls-anything that may help your friend(s) feel comfortable. Most clients bring their own food/treats but I'd be happy to provide that if you'd like. Bring your dog crates if you think it's a good idea!

Information Susan P. would like to know about your pet

It's important to know if a dog has any anxiety issues such as separation anxiety- anxiety riding in cars, or being around other animals or people. I would also like to know if your dog likes to take walks, and if they have any reactivity issues towards other dogs or other things (such as skateboards) they may encounter on walks. If your dog has a strong desire to chase after wildlife during walks, a heads up will be appreciated to prevent the leash from slipping from my grip. And I should be made aware of any allergies to certain foods.

A typical day

On a typical day, we can take several walks in my neighborhood, where there are lots of green spaces with many scents to engage your dog. If you'd allow, we could also go to the local, fenced in dog park to say hello to other dogs and play "fetch" if they're into it. At home, indoors, maybe some "tug" is in order. I have a variety of dog toys for them and have room to fetch inside or in the backyard. The backyard is teeming with wildlife that keep our guests interested and curious so potty breaks will always include a chance to investigate. If you prefer a walk or drop-in service at your home, I can customize the visit according to each individual, whether it's a good walk, play, just keeping company, or all three. Of course I can clean litter boxes, give food, freshen water bowls, or give medication if needed.

Conscientious Care

Pet care experience

I have lots of experience with various animals of all ages, from hamsters to dogs. Being a caretaker to animals has been a big part of most of my life and I will treat your animal friends as if they are part of my family. Having used various pet-sitting services myself (for my rabbits, cats, and dog), my hope and wish was that they'd be treated with the same care and compassion they receive at home. I aim to provide an environment that is the next best thing to their own home. Each guest will receive lots of individual attention, which is important since each have different personalities/temperament and emotional needs. Everyone is welcome on the furniture, as well as sleeping in bed with us while boarding. I am comfortable with administering medication if needed.

Lulu has a great time staying with Susan. I get great pictures and videos so I know Lulu is having fun. And that makes my trips more fun too! There are usually a couple of nice pups there so Lulu is never bored. Susan is my go to when I need to go out of travel.
