Pet care experience

Nice to Meet You!

Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I have experience with small dogs to extra large dogs. I was involved in dog rescue for many years. Specifically Weimaraner Rescue. I am reliable and will treat your pet like my own. My own family consists of 3 grown children, my youngest, Derek, is 28 years old and lives at home. My other 2 are located in CA and Grand Rapids. We have 2 dogs, Sony who is 60 pounds and is a mixed breed. It has been said that his mom was part bloodhound, but I think a Rhodesian Ridgeback may have been involved in his breeding. Sony is a rescue and his home state was Alabama. He can be overly exuberant when he first meets a new dog. After he settles down with the new guest, he is as cool as a cucumber. Daisy is a 3 year old Golden Retriever. She weighs 50 pounds and is on the small size for a Golden Retriever. Daisy came to us from a puppy mill in Indiana. Daisy is a sweet girl who loves to play with visiting dogs. Daisy is the hostess with the mostess. She is up for what ever the visiting dog wants to do., I do have 2 indoor cats, Snow and Lance. For the safety of my cats i won’t be able to sit for dogs that chase, lunge or are aggressive towards cats in anyway. Thank you for understanding. Please remember this is my home, where my son and I live with our pets. I do appreciate that when you are coming for a meet and greet, or a drop off/pick up that you come at the time scheduled. I take every precaution to make sure everything goes well for you and your pup(s)! When you come a half hour early, I may not be ready. I try to have my home and backyard in order. Obviously this is where I live, so coming early for your convenience, may not be convenient for me. Any time or date changes need to be entered on Rover. That includes any time that we have agreed on drop off and pick up time. Also, meet and greets. When you have a pick up time and cannot make that time, please send me a text. Typically it is not a problem to care for your dog for a longer period of time. I am an easy going person and have never been hung up on time. But lately I have had a few issues with time. Also, if you ask to drop your dog off the day before, that will be another day that will be charged. Same with staying an extra day. Please make sure you are making the changes on the Rover site also. Rover does keep track of days and payments. I do not get paid before the dog sitting. After the sitting is complete. I typically receive the payment within 2-3 days after the dog sitting has been complete. . Rover takes 20% of my pay, so I am not a millionaire. lol 😂. Thank you and I do appreciate your consideration.

Susan was great with my dog. She played with her outside and sent updates. She also had great communication and punctuality. I would feel comfortable leaving my dog with her anytime!

Safety, trust & environment

We have secure fencing in the backyard. My home is dog friendly and I make every effort to keep all dogs safe and happy. I do not let dogs free feed in my home. I feed them twice a day, once in the morning and evening. The reason I do this is to not have any food conflicts. I haven’t had a dog that hasn’t been able to adjust to this schedule. If your dog is unable do this for any reason, I will feed he or she multiple times in a separate room. If your dog sleeps in a crate each night they can do so here. They are welcome to sleep just about anywhere in my home.

Pets

A typical day

We have a large secure backyard where the dogs can romp and play. It is important that your dog feels secure and happy. If that requires some extra lap time and love, we got that! We live in a quiet neighborhood with sidewalks and a park.

I love all breeds of dogs, but I can not sit for dogs who are aggressive. I want all dogs and people to be safe in my home. Dogs need to be neutered/spayed and UTD on vaccines. I also cannot sit for cat aggressive dogs. Chasing, barking, and growling at the cats means they can not be trusted around cats. It is unfair for the cats to hide all day(s). Your pet’s food is your responsibility. If there is a special bed your dog likes, please bring it. Otherwise, we have several comfy beds that your dog can sleep on.
