I keep my schedule as open as possible to allow for flexibility with pet sitting. I do have a part time retail job and commitments to my family and other pets, but other than that, my time is yours. I don't ever plan to leave pets unattended for more than four hours.

I'll keep a close eye on your pet when staying in your home, making sure that they don't get into any trouble or are lonely. I want to adhere to your pet's routine the best that I can, so I'll make sure to feed and walk them at their normal times. I am always a courteous house guest and willing to do any extra housekeeping tasks like watering or taking out the trash. Keeping your pet and your home safe is essential so I always lock doors and keep lights on at night or when going out.

Information Susan H. would like to know about your pet

I like to meet your pet beforehand and get a sense of their personality and routine. Some other essentials to know is how they are with other dogs, if they have any medical conditions to look out for, and what their favorite treats and toys are. It's always a great bonus to learn about their antics and what makes them a special pet.

A typical day

I prefer to walk dogs first thing in the morning then it's kinda up to them – playtime, naptime, exchanging our opinions on the finer points of squirrel chasing. I'm really down for whatever!

Pet care experience

Hi, I’m Susan! I’ve sat dogs and cats through Rover for over a year, but I’ve been caring for pets all my life. I’ve learned the best ways to keep pets happy are to earn their trust, give them as much attention as they desire, and not disrupt their routine. Anything you or your pet needs, I’m willing to do it – walking, playing, cuddling, spoiling with treats, etc. I know when I travel, one of the highlights is getting pictures of my pets and knowing I’ve left them in good hands, so expect lots of photos and updates from me. I have a few pets of my own: Pumpkin, a grumpy cat who is, you guessed it, very large and very orange; Beanie, a snuggly chiweenie; and Elmer, a nervous terrier who is often found in my shadow. I’m often referred to as Elmer’s emotional support human and that’s the energy I want to bring to pet sitting – I am there to console your pet in your absence (but though my effort is great, I could never replace you in their heart). In 2024, I graduated with a BFA in creative writing from Chapman University which means I’ll be spending my nights either reading your pet a bedtime story or brainstorming with them about how to solve plot holes. Being raised on animal stories was what got me into storytelling to begin with! So when you return from your adventures, I’m looking forward to regaling you with all the fun your pet and I had together.

Susan was amazing. We were very concerned about leaving our three dogs for the first time in years especially our 16 yr old with health issues. However, Susan did an incredible job handling the special needs of all three dogs from food issues to medications. On our first meet and greet we could see she was truly an animal lover and had the patience and disposition we were looking for as a dog/house sitter. We would highly recommend Susan to anyone who is looking for to care for their fur babies while out of town. We will definitely be using Susan again!

Susan did a wonderful job watching over my precious kitty Suki. She kept the house exactly how it was when I left, nice and clean. She provided pictures at each and every visit which I loved, and included notes with short summaries of the activities they did while together (playing, snack time, brushing, cuddle time, etc.) I loved that Susan was extremely responsive with all communication. Suki also warmed up to Susan much faster than anyone else! Thank you Susan! I will book again. ❤️
