Safety, trust & environment
I prefer to care for pets in their own environment. I think it’s less stressful on the animals. On extremely rare occasions I will host pets in my home. My cats will get along with your animals if they are friendly….otherwise they will hide. I prefer not to stress my animals out in their own home.
Information Susan H. would like to know about your pet
I don’t shy away from special needs or seniors. I just need to know in advance what special circumstances I will be dealing with. There may be extra charges for some requests, like bladder expression or shots, which require an additional level of skill. I’m happy to work with you and your pet to make our experience pleasant and fun! Please note that I charge an extra $10 for late-notice bookings, which is anything less than 12 hours notice, as it causes me to have to adjust my entire schedule for the day. I’m also available outside my service area occasionally, but I need to charge a little more to compensate for the added distance. It’s usually no more than $10/visit or $15-20 night if the distance is reasonable. I will not take bookings where I haven’t met the owner or the animal(s) previously during a meet & greet. It’s for my safety and theirs! So if you THINK you may need a sitter at some point, let’s get together! We don’t even have to book anything at that time. I also encourage you to meet with more than one sitter before booking someone. We may have an instant bond, but I still feel it’s best to get “more than one estimate.”
A typical day
Your dog needs mental and physical stimulation so I will provide that! Walks around the neighborhood to visit furfriends, games of fetch and tug-o-war, local dog parks or animal-friendly parks. Anywhere there are good smells and friendly people! Cats love playtime, too, and I’m more than happy to oblige!

I’m Your New Pet Sitter!!!
Pet care experience
I’m BACK! I’ve moved back to the Pittsburgh area after being gone since 1992! Moving back to be close to family and friends after a career in the Washington, DC area and some early retirement years in Florida. Time to come back to where it all began! I had a busy schedule in Florida taking care of my furry clients and I can’t wait to get back to that level once again! You will not be disappointed in the care your pets receive. I can absolutely provide references for you, too. In fact, one client wants to fly me back to Florida to watch her dogs for a few weeks! That’s loyalty! I am committed to earning your trust as well. I may not be the least expensive sitter you will find, but you will not be disappointed with my care of your babies. I’m a firm believer in getting what you pay for. Now on to the deets! I’ve always had a house full of furry friends. In fact, my dad owned four pet stores until I was 18, so I know quite a lot about all different kinds of animals! When I lost my yellow lab a few years ago, I decided to find solace in smothering YOUR pets with all of that love! I also have three cats of my own that I spoil. I’ve trained puppies and have taken special care of senior animals. I believe each furbaby is unique, just as we are, and once you take the time to learn their personality, training is that much quicker and enjoyable for all. Pets simply want to please their owners and we want to lather them with love! I am not a trainer, however. I will reinforce whatever level and type of training you employ so that there is consistency in their care. I love the joy animals bring to our lives and their smiles and wags brighten my day! I am a retired federal employee looking for something enjoyable to do with my time. What better way to spend it than lavishing lots of love on your pet! It helps me stay active as well! I’m available nearly all days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. I prefer to come to you and can stay overnight if you need a house sitter. I like to have written instructions regarding routine, amount and type of food, usual routine, medications needed, etc, so that there is no confusion on my part as to the best way to care for your babies. My dog was considered the mayor of the neighborhood because he knew and loved everyone! The youngest of my male cats was his best friend and would even go on walks with us most of the time. Please be aware, while I am happy to help with most things, unless I am booked for housesitting, there will be small additional charges for taking out/returning trash cans to the curb, watering plants/flowers, cleaning small animal cages/enclosures, and other extras you may require. If I am house sitting, I include most things within reason in the daily rate.

Reviews

Excellent job taking care of my three kitties while I was away! Everything was well cared for, and I came home to happy, healthy cats. Great communication and peace of mind throughout my vacation. I would definitely use her services again and highly recommend her!

Sue did a great job with a houseful of critters: 3 cats and a dog. She walked and snuggled with our needy pit bull, fed the cats and stuck to everyone’s schedule while we were away overnight. She texted when she had questions, sent pictures and was very responsive. We appreciated having a responsible adult in the house and would use her again.

Sue is great with our little Max, spending time playing with him after their walks. She’s also a nice person!

Susan was an absolute dream!!! We were so worried about leaving our pup, he is a Covid dog and has never been left alone due to shifts worked someone is always with him. Susan was fantastic with Kasper, sent us updates and pictures along with reassurance that he was doing great!! It was a comfort and relief to have Susan take care and love him like we would!! 10 out of 10 would suggest choosing Susan if you are in need of a pet sitter!!!!
