With 30+ years as both an owner and caretaker, I've cared for dogs of every size, age, and personality, so I'm comfortable handling whatever your pup's quirks or needs might be. I am especially good with senior dogs who need extra snuggles. Because I work from home, dogs here are almost never alone: we're roaming the house and yard together most of the day, with plenty of outdoor time built in naturally rather than scheduled bathroom breaks. Furniture, couch cuddles, and a genuinely cozy home are all part of the package. My own dog, Birdy, is a big, social 7-year-old who loves catch and tug-of-war, and having a resident dog who's socialized helps new dogs settle in fast. Most guest dogs are playing with him within the first day. I also always set up a short meet-and-greet before booking, so everyone starts off comfortable. What sets me apart is simple: your dog becomes part of a real, active household, not just a guest in a kennel. If you're looking for a place where your dog gets treated like family with a comfy home, a big backyard, and a friendly canine companion, I'd love to meet you both!

Ratings and reviews
One of my dogs is old and frail, the other is young and rambunctious - both have a blast at Susan’s. They always get excited when we drive up, and Susan sends lots of evidence of their cozy sleepovers and backyard adventures. It’s like a vacay at the cousins’!
Susan is absolutely wonderful! She has watched our dog Willa several times, and we always feel completely comfortable leaving her in Susan’s care. Willa has the best time at her house—she loves snuggling with Susan and playing with her dog, Birdie. It’s clear how much Susan genuinely loves and cares for the dogs she watches. We always know Willa is happy, safe, and well cared for while she’s there. We couldn’t recommend Susan more!
Susan clearly puts dogs first. She is super confident and experienced in dog care and psychology, and cares for my Charlie like her own. I like the home-style care - big yard accessible at all times, usually a friend or three to play with, and sleeping in a pack or alone wherever they choose in the home. Charlie is always excited to get going at Susan's and sometimes is actually hesitant to leave. He has a banger time every time, and I love getting photo and video updates.
If you want your dog to feel like they hit the jackpot, give them the Susan experience. She is an expert in dog care, having raised and trained dogs for decades. Our dogs Jax and Dorothy love playing in her massive yard with each other and her dog, and sleep together in a pile on her bed or on couches. Three of our friends use her service every time they travel, as do we. On extended trips, we are delighted to get pictures and videos of our dogs romping it up with their friends and snuggling when napping.
Susan has kept my dog Cooper on multiple occasions and he always has a wonderful time there. Susan is a real dog lover and treats every guest dog as her own. I get pictures and happy updates so I can leave him without any worries at all. Now when I get close to her house to drop him off Cooper starts wagging his tail because he is so excited to see her.
Susan is one of the best dog sitters I have ever used! A dog stay with her is the opposite of traditional boarding. No kennels, no play schedules. My dog stays with her in her home, and plays with her dog as a member of the household. Susan is a loving caretaker. In fact, my pup is sometimes reluctant to come home when I pick her up! Susan communicates clearly during scheduling. And she follows through with reports on how my dog is doing during the stay. She is solid gold.

Schedule
Pet care isn't squeezed into my routine, it is my routine. I work from home, so dogs are woven into my entire day: mornings outside, walks, playtime, quiet afternoons while I work nearby, and evenings winding down together on the sofa. There's no juggling a job outside the home or rushing back for breaks; I'm simply here, mostly all day, every day, with time built in naturally for whatever the dogs need.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your dog's safety is my top priority. My yard is large and fully fenced with a 4-foot chain link perimeter, so there's secure room to run and play. I work from home, meaning dogs are rarely left alone and almost always have someone nearby. I require all dogs to be spayed/neutered with current shot records, and I don't board dogs with aggression issues. No exceptions for the safety of everyone. Every new dog starts with a short meet-and-greet with my own dog, Birdy, so we can make sure it's a good match before any stay begins. My home is smoke-free and set up to feel comfortable and familiar, not clinical. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and treated like part of the family from day one.
Pets
A typical day
We're typically up by 6–7 AM. Our morning routine includes morning sniffs and potty breaks - breakfast and walks. Mornings are typically full of ball throwing, rope tugging, sniffing, pets, or just goofing off and relaxing, whatever the dogs are in the mood for. In the afternoons, the pups typically rest while I work. We have more yard time before dinner then again after dinner. The dogs typically set the tone for the evening. Some are super active and want walks, some just want to relax. We acclimate. They have lots of potty time before bedtime.

- Before booking, please share anything important about your dog: any medications and dosing instructions, food or feeding schedule preferences, crate habits, favorite toys or comfort items, and any anxieties or triggers I should know about. I strictly enforce a no-aggressive-dogs policy. This is non-negotiable for the safety of all dogs in my care, including Birdy. Please also confirm current vaccination records and spay/neuter status ahead of time. The more I know beforehand, the smoother your dog's stay will be, so don't hesitate to over-share!
