I have my own dog, Leo, so I’m very used to the day to day details that come with caring for a dog, not just walks and feeding. I pay close attention to things like appetite, energy, bathroom habits, stomach issues and small changes in behaviour because those things can tell you a lot about how a dog is feeling. I’m comfortable giving medication when needed, following specific feeding instructions and keeping to a dog’s usual routine as closely as possible. I’ve also had to learn a lot about sensitive stomachs, diet changes, basic first aid and knowing when something seems off. Leo is part of the home too. He is affectionate and playful, so dogs who enjoy company can have a buddy around, but I also understand that not every dog wants constant interaction. I’m happy to give them space and let them settle in at their own pace. What matters most to me is knowing the little details about your dog so I can care for them in a way that actually feels familiar to them.

Schedule
I work from home, so pet care fits very naturally into my day. I’m around for most of the day and already have a routine with Leo that includes walks, feeding times, playtime, potty breaks and plenty of downtime together. If another dog is staying with us, I can easily work around their usual schedule too. I’d rather keep their routine as close to normal as possible, especially for meals, walks and sleep, so they can settle in comfortably without too much change.

Dogs staying with us become part of our everyday routine. Since I work from home, I’m around throughout the day for walks, potty breaks, playtime, cuddles or simply having them hang out beside me while I work. I follow their usual feeding schedule, medication needs and the little routines they are used to at home because I know those things can make a big difference when they are somewhere new. Since Leo is also part of the home, I would always want the dogs to meet first before confirming a stay. I think it is important to see how comfortable they are around each other and make sure it feels like a good fit for everyone. I would rather take that extra time in the beginning than assume two dogs will automatically get along. Once they are here, I want them to feel comfortable, included and cared for in the way that suits their personality. Some dogs want to play and be around you all day, while others need a little more space and time to settle in. I am happy to follow their lead and make the stay feel as normal and easy as possible for them.

A typical day
Two walks, playtime, love cuddles, playing fetch/tug and hanging out with me while I work from home and watch tv. I’ll follow your dog’s usual routine as much as possible, with plenty of breaks and attention throughout the day.
