I’ve cared for animals in a wide range of environments, from farms on the Big Island of Hawaii to horses in Appalachia and North Florida. For the last decade, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals, including more than 30 pets in the Asheville area in one summer alone! I naturally connect with animals and tend to bond with them easily. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet and your home, and I naturally pay close attention to the little things, follow instructions carefully, and try to keep each pet’s routine as familiar and relaxed as possible while you’re away. I’m dependable, grounded, and easy to communicate with. Every animal is different, and I’m happy to adjust my care around their personality, routine, and comfort level. I am also happy to offer plant care and watering when needed.

Safety, trust & environment
I provide care both in clients’ homes and, for the right fit, in my own home. I try to keep each pet’s routine as familiar as possible by following feeding schedules, walks, medication instructions, household preferences, and any other details you leave for me. I’m very attentive to safety and the little things that help everything run smoothly—making sure doors and gates are secure, watching for changes in behavior or comfort, and treating both pets and homes with care and respect. When I care for a dog in my home, I want it to be a good fit for everyone involved. I pay attention to temperament, routine, comfort level, and how well the dog settles into a home environment so I can provide calm, attentive care rather than forcing a situation that isn’t right. I also communicate consistently throughout the stay so you know how things are going. My goal is for your pet to feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you feel confident they’re in responsible hands.

Summer has house/pet sat for me recently and did an incredible job taking care of our elderly cat Jessie. She went above and beyond by doing deep cleaning and researching and purchasing a special non toxic cleaner spray if our cat was to go to the bathroom in the house. I highly recommend Summer for anyone looking for a sweet reliable sitter

Schedule
Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I’m local to the Waynesville and Lake Junaluska area and have a flexible schedule. That makes it easy for me to be consistent, responsive, and dependable for walks, drop-ins, feeding routines, and companionship. I really value the trust involved in caring for someone’s pets and home, and I try to make that experience feel easy and reassuring. I’m attentive to routines, communicate clearly, and enjoy creating a calm, steady environment where pets can feel comfortable while their people are away.
