Calm, caring and curious cat-sitter
I’ve been living with my roommate’s cat, Leo, for over a year and a half, and it’s been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. In that time, I’ve developed a deep understanding of feline behavior. I have learned when to give space and when to invite closeness. Since then, I have taken care of several cats while their owners are away. In some instances where there were two cats in the same house, I was able to identify exactly how much time and attention each one needed. I visited twice a day, feeding them, cleaning out cat litters, refilling water, playing with them, and cleaning up. I was able to recognize that even in the same setting, one cat preferred having more physical contact, whereas, the other one loved chasing shadows. In another instance, I was taking care of cats that refused to come out of their hiding at first, but in a few days' time, started becoming more comfortable. Initially to build trust, I try to sit with them, let them approach at their own pace, and offer a hand (and the occasional nose boop!) once they are ready. As a graduate student working with animals, I've been trained to be detail oriented, observant, and maintaining the best hygiene. I work well with people and love learning, so I am extremely open to learn whatever you can teach me about your cat. More importantly, I treat every cat with empathy, respect and love—just as I would my own!

Living with my roommate’s cat, Leo, for a year and a half has taught me the importance of creating a calm, predictable environment. Although Leo has an automatic feeder, I always make sure he’s fed on time when it malfunctions, that his water bowl is full, and that he isn’t overfed. Over time, I’ve learned how much routine and boundaries contribute to his sense of safety. Early on, he would scratch at my door to come in, but as we built trust, I became more comfortable letting him explore my room, and he stopped scratching. Now, he knows he’s welcome when the door is open, and I know when he needs companionship or playtime. In my clients’ homes, I use the same patient, trust-based approach. I don’t rush to interact or overwhelm a cat with attention. Instead, I start with quiet presence, maybe playing from a distance or letting them sniff my hand, until they show they’re comfortable. Once trust is established, I gently offer head pats and more direct engagement. Throughout each visit, I ensure they’re well-fed, hydrated, and that litter areas are clean. My goal is always to create a space where every cat feels safe, respected, and at ease.

Sumedha was wonderful looking after my cats again (with an extra cat added this time). Her notes from the visits are detailed and fun to read, and I am happy to know that my cats are safe in her hands.
Sumedha did an amazing job with our kitties. She was very diligent and paid close attention to the care instructions, even generously caring for our fish too! I loved how detailed she was in her communication while we were gone and the pictures she captured. Overall great experience!
Sumedha was great! We were gone for a week and she took care of our three cats. She reported in with photos of them that captured their personalities along with narrative telling of their hijinks. It was good to be away and not only not have to worry about them, but to be able to stay in touch with them through her telling.
Sumedha did a great job at looking after my cat, Woody! She was very communicative, responsive, and flexible. I appreciated that she asked for detailed instructions and included details in her daily reports of how the visit went. Made me feel a lot better about leaving him alone for a few days.
Sumedha was a great sitter to our cats! She was very organized and detailed in her reports. Sumedha was also excellent in communicating with us throughout the week. Our cats were well taken care of while we were away!
Sumedha has been the primary person I've trusted to look after my cat, Leo, over the years. In the past, it's been difficult to leave him alone when going away, but knowing that he is well looked after makes it easier. Sumedha makes sure that all of his basic needs are met, but also takes the time to make sure he is getting exercise and feeling loved. Leo in particular sometimes struggles with kidney stones and needs to be on prescription food. I always worry that there will be a flare-up while I am gone, so deciding who to leave him in the care of really speaks volumes about a person. I always trust that he will be okay in Sumedha's hands, and that she'll be able to handle the situation if not! Also, speaking for Leo, he can be somewhat picky with people he likes. However, I can tell he is super comfortable around Sumedha and that she is one of his favorite humans!

I am currently working as a graduate student, so I am in town almost all the time. During weekdays, I am available outside of my work hours (9-5), and available all day on week days
