My home has a semi-fenced back yard a small grass area for immediate potty needs. I regularly go out with the dogs walking several times a day, whether in the local area or driving to different favourite locations. When at my home, your dog will receive love and attention, be free to roam the house (unless destructive behaviours are noted) and when staying overnight can sleep peacefully on their own bed or mine! If a crate is what your dog is used to, that’s great, but I don’t require it. Feeding per their usual schedule, along with treats, a toy basket to rummage through, and time to explore and play. Your dog will not be left alone in the home.

Please advise of any behavioural traits, for example, is your dog nervous around other dogs or strangers? Shy or highly socialized? Like to chase cats, squirrels, birds? Energetic or lethargic? Likes beach time? Swimming? Tendancy to pick up random items on a walk? Any current medications, medical issues or past injury to note? Any food or environmental allergies? Favourable or unfavourable habits?!
A typical day
I love to explore the neighbourhood, trails, parks and beaches and will take along any pup that wants do go - and no one has said “no” yet! Until I know the dog, a leash is always used to ensure safety, but off-leash play and socializing with other dogs in safe, designated areas is certainly an option and encouraged after discussion with the owner.

Pet care experience
I have always lived with dogs. I cherished my darling dog for 16 years and after moving to the Van Isle, I found I had a little extra time to offer my home and passion for dogs to help folks looking for a temporary, loving home for their dogs. I believe in putting the dogs’ needs first, loving and working with them at play and at rest to ensure a happy, secure and loyal friend who is a joy to be with. In 2023, I adopted my newest best boy, a 2 yr old young Maltese. He is a sweetheart, adjusted well to his new home and enjoys time with visiting dogs and sharing his home with new friends.

Molly had a great time with Sue and her dog. She was relaxed and happy when I picked her up and would be happy to go there again.

Shelby had a great afternoon with Sue and Duke with lots of walks, snacks and playtime. Thanks Sue for watching her and we will definitely look forward to booking you again in the future.

Sue is a phenomenal dog sitter. She really went above and beyond our expectations. Ziggy was only with her for the day but Sue took him on several walks and outings and was with him the entire time. She sent lots of photos and updates throughout the day and even sent a super cute video of his stay at the end. Do not hesitate to book with Sue. She is super loving and caring towards dogs and is just such a good person. Also, bonus she has such an amazing location if you are leaving the island via ferry or air. Would book her again in a heartbeat. Thanks again Sue!

I am so happy I found Sue. It was my puppy’s first time away overnight and I was nervous and feeling guilty. Sue is such a lovely person and loves dogs. She cared so well for Charlie and loved him up while we were away. She sent me photos and updates while we were gone and a video montage of his time after the stay! I am sooooooo happy i found Sue and have already rebooked her for 9 days in April. I will have no hesitation leaving Charlie for his own mini holiday this time!
