I'm currently working from home so even though I'm not here every moment of every day, my guests get plenty of attention and opportunities for exercise throughout a typical day.

I have a fenced yard, though not massive in size, it's plenty large enough to allow visitors to take care of their business, stretch their legs, explore, and run around a bit.

I hate to state the obvious, but any dog with a history of aggressive behavior or current destructive behavior (typical puppy shenanigans get a mulligan) is likely not going to be a good fit for my home. More generally speaking, I have found that dogs with moderate to low energy / activity levels tend to fit in best with my particular setup. Puppies and very active or very playful dogs with high energy levels are unfortunately not usually a good fit even though they are frequently wonderful dogs. For any potential new guest I do ask for a meet and greet prior to accepting a request. It's easily the most efficient and effective way to determine whether a dog is a good fit for my home, and of course to find out whether an owner is comfortable with me caring for their beloved family member. A meet and greet can be requested and scheduled anytime, even if you don't have specific or immediate plans.
A typical day
A typical day here is probably pretty similar to what most dogs experience in their homes. A day usually starts around 6 or 6:30 am with a visit out to the yard allowing for typical morning rituals. Any dog that would like a walk or needs to be walked will get one before providing morning meals. Following breakfast we usually go back outside for a spell before I settle in with my day. Since I am home a good deal, dogs will get opportunities for play and exercise as needed. This can change quite a bit depending upon the breed, age, and energy / activity level of each guest. Dinner is normally served around 5 pm and everyone has some time outside before bedtime.

Dog Care that Does Care
Pet care experience
As a dog owner for over 35 years I know that they are not just our pets but members of our families. Whenever I have to leave my 13 year old Australian Shepherd Shelby for an extended period I always make sure to find a trustworthy, caring home where she will get the attention and exercise that you're just not going to find in a typical kennel scenario. This is just the kind of care that I can provide for your family members. I am currently working out of my home, which means lots of free time for dog related activities. Its a nice sized house with plenty of yard space including a fenced section - more than enough room for frolicking or just stretching out and relaxing. In addition, I'm in a lovely Pikesville neighborhood with quiet streets - miles of potential walks. I am also a member of the Paw Point dog park in Lake Roland, and if you are as well it would be great fun having your dog join us when Shelby and I go to socialize with other dogs. In short you can expect that any member of your family will be treated like one of my own. For potential new guests I do require a meet-n-greet prior to accepting a reservation request. A meet-n-greet is a great way to determine if our dogs are comfortable with each other, plus it gives us a chance to talk and for me to find out a bit more about your pup's needs and your expectations. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your precious family.
Reviews

Steven is truly the best and cares deeply for his clients! He tended to our dog very diligently after an unexpected injury required some extra care during her stay.

Steven is truly the best! He is so thoughtful and caring with your dog and creates such a safe environment. When my dog got injured right before her stay with Steven, he was so helpful and tended to her wounds diligently. I always look forward to having my dog stay with Steven when I am away so that I can rest easy!

Steven was courteous and friendly. He sent pics and updates every day. Rosie was happy and healthy when we picked her up!

Thanks for hosting our pup again. We always enjoy getting pictures while we are away! It's also nice to hear how she made out during her stay.
