I'm Steven, a former science teacher who turned a lifelong love of animals into full-time pet care. I've cared for my own dogs for years (John, a Yorkie, and Lucy, my senior Chihuahua) and have looked after friends' and neighbors' dogs, cats, and small pets for as long as I can remember. I'm Fear Free Certified and Red Cross Pet First Aid & CPR certified, and I'm fully insured and bonded. Teaching taught me patience, routine, and how to read what someone needs when they can't say it in words, which is exactly what good pet care takes. Every booking is handled personally by me, so you'll always know who's showing up at your door.

Since I come to you, your pet stays in their own home, familiar surroundings, their own bed and yard, which keeps them calmest, especially seniors and anxious pets. I treat your home with respect: doors locked, mail brought in, plants watered if you'd like, everything left as I found it. I have two dogs of my own, John, a Yorkie, and Lucy, a senior Chihuahua, so I'm comfortable with everything from high-energy pups to gentle senior care.

Steven watched my cat and dog for me while I was out of town, and I'd have him back in a heartbeat. He sent updates and photos the whole time, stuck to the feeding and walk schedule exactly, and left the place cleaner than he found it. My cat Frankie was completely relaxed with him, which honestly doesn't happen with everyone. Steven is a former teacher and it shows — patient, organized, and communicative. His love and care for animals was obvious to me from our first meeting, and this helped me to feel confident and safe with my decision to hire him to look after my pets. Highly recommend!
I am a proud cat mommy of two Tabby’s . I am very picky who I trust to care for both of them. Not only did Steven answer all of my questions , he was very patient and expressed similar concerns he has had / have with his own pets . I immediately felt at ease having him care for my babies . I had a great experience with Steven in many areas such as great communication sending me updates of my cats . I will only reach out to Steven in the future when I need someone to look after them . I witnessed how affectionate he was with both cats . He is truly an animal lover . Based off of my cats reaction to him I know they felt safe and cared for with him .
I can't recommend Second Family Pet Services enough. Steven took care of our two dogs and from the first meet-and-greet it was obvious he actually knows animals — not just "likes dogs," but understands their body language and what each one needs to feel safe. He's a former science teacher, and it shows: patient, observant, and genuinely responsible. He's also Fear Free certified and trained in pet first aid — so he handles nervous animals the right way and you know he'd recognize a problem before it became an emergency. He followed our feeding and medication routine to the letter and sent updates without me having to ask. It's rare to find a sitter this qualified and this caring. Our pets — and our peace of mind — are in good hands with him

Schedule
I do this full-time, so your pet is a priority, not a side gig. For house sitting I keep your pet on their normal routine, same feeding times, walks, and bedtime, and I send photo and text updates throughout so you can relax while you're away. I follow feeding and medication instructions exactly (I give my own senior dog his meds on a strict schedule, so I take it seriously). Every booking starts with a free meet & greet so your pet and I are comfortable before anything is confirmed.
